The Job (Denis Leary) coming to DVD in May!
From tvshowsondvd:
We've learned that ABC's series The Job is headed to DVD in May. Shout! Factory will release all 19 episodes of the series that stared, and was executive produced by, Denis Leary. Leary, known for his foul-mouthed stand-up routines, played Det. Mike McNeil, an alcohol-loving, philandering family man. The show also stared Bill Nunn (Det. Pip Phillips), Lenny Clarke (Det. Frank Harrigan), Diane Farr (Det. Jan Fendrich), Adam Ferrara (Det. Tommy Manetti), John Ortiz (Det. Ruben Sommariba) and Keith David as Lt. Williams.
Rumors are that Leary will take part in bonus material for the set, but nothing has been completed yet. The show was put on DVD a few years ago when Apostle, the production company owned by Leary, created 2,000 sets for cast members, friends, and family. Fans have been patiently waiting for the show to be released at retail, so the acquisition by Shout! Factory is sure to cause a few fans to jump up and down.
We'll bring you more information when we hear more from Shout! Factory.

Good news about this. Too damn bad I won't have any money over teh summer (grad school internship). This and Scrubs are must-haves, but they are also must-waits. Thanks for the update.

I saw only one episode of this when it was on -- the one with the massage parlor that gave, um, "happy endings" -- but that epsiode alone was funny enough to make me want to buy this set. Good news!

Great news! Funny, fantastic show! I didn't realize there were that many (19) episodes.
I remember one where Leary was meeting for the first time, the parents of the girl he was seeing on the side. They were non-drinkers and he indicated he did not drink as well. But they went to some place where he was a regular and everybody kept bringing him drinks all evening.

I've been going through this set over the past week or so. The first 6 episodes are on the first disc and are in 1.33:1 format with standard audio. Last night I popped in disc 2 to watch episode #7 and all of a sudden the episodes are now 1.78:1 with DD 5.1 audio.
A nice surprise.

I only wish I had watched The Job before I watched Rescue Me, because as great as The Job is, it was still kind of a let down in comparison.
I think it may have had something to do with that god awful music.
