I've had the TIVO set for a couple days now. As difficult as it's going to be, I'm going to wait and watch both parts together. Should be good.

Part 1 was fascinating tonight; it seems like Burns is really showing both sides of Johnson, both the cocky, confident boxer and the flamboyant womanizer. I'm definitely looking forward to Part 2.

Last night's episode was quite fascinating. I fell asleep eventually (not the film's fault; I was beat from traveling all day) but what I saw was tremendous. Luckily Burns releases everything on DVD eventually. Although, the HD feed did look particularly nice.

I'd really like to see this, since I am reading a book about the Black experience in America in the late 1800's-early 1900's (specifically about lynching) and was fascinated on the info I read about Johnson, but unfortunately DirecTV removed PBS from my channel lineup so no go for me.
