Movies Involving Mental And Physical Disabilities
I happen to have Cerebral Palsy which is a Physical disability and I just wondered what are some movies out there that deal with physical or mental disabilities. I know of "My Left Foot" which was played amazingly by Daniel Day Lewis and "Gabby" both of which featured people with cp. Can anyone think of any other movies that involve disabilities?
Thanks,
Libby

There's a terrific documentary now on DVD called, "My Flesh and Blood" which I think you'll find just as interesting as I did.
"Awakenings" is another that comes to mind. We need a SE of this title.

Off the cuff, the following come to mind. Not the same as My Left Foot or anything, but all are good films about people disabled in some way.
Autism:
Peralysis (phenomal underratred film)
Catatonic "rare disease"
Schitzophrenia

There's a wonderful documentary named How's Your News?. It follows a group of mentally and physically disabled adults, going cross-country, conducting man-on-the-street interviews with people along the way. Check the website at www.howsyournews.com .

If you want to go into the cream of the crap...
The person Gigli is hired to kidnap seems to have a combination of Tourette's and Rain Man-itis.
