I've done some searching, but am having a hard time finding a full explanantion about this. Can someone give me the story behind the Shawshank Redemption 10th Anniversary (and/or Limited Deluxe) Edition release, and if/why it was recalled?
Are the transfers/extras the same on the 2-disc version that is available? Is the CD soundtrack the only difference? Is a re-release in the works? Etc. Any info would be helpful. I've finally decided to update my snapper version, and I find this on ebay:

What's the deal with it? Thanks.

there never has been confirmation of a recall....it was unavailable for order at most websites right after release and caused the scare. It can be found at many B&M stores....Best buy, Circuit City, SUncoast, Tower Records, Virgin Megastores...cost is back up and you will be hard pressed to find these discounted.
The dvd only version can be found anywhere. It is the box that was rumored to be recalled. It seemed like everyone here was able to find it easy.
Skip the ebay and get out a phone book.....that way you know its legit, and the price will be about the same

I've said it a few times, but do not pay more than retail for this set. It isn't worth it. Reasons:
1. It is a flimsy box, mine was bent up when it arrived.
2. DVD is the same as the stand alone release
3. Soundtrack is the same as regular release, and can be found at used cd shops cheap.
4. The booklet, looks nice and has some good photos, but the text is WORD for WORD from one of the documentaries on the dvd. Not worth reading.
So I'd pick them up seperate and save some cash if ebay is your only option. It just isn't worth it.

And is also available separately if you really, really want it:
All of the stuff in this set is available separeately (DVD, CD, book). There's really no need to spend big bucks on it unless you're a completist.

Thanks for the help, all. I think the regular SE should be sufficient for me.

Wow. An exaggerated eBay item description. Like that never happens.
It's BS. I saw one of these on a shelf at Best Buy recently.

I totally agree. Everything except the box is available.
