I was talking with Phil L and we both mentioned that we'd rented "Chicago" several times and just couldn't seem to watch the thing.
Our library lets us reserve movies online so I always have a big list. Several times I've shown up and the clerk says, "So you're Buford T Pusser!" We always wondered what you look like. I often have four or five on hold every few days.
Anyway, I keep renting "Chicago" for one week, not watching it and renew it. After a few weeks of this I can't renew it so I turn it in unwatched.
So I've now checked the thing out about six times and held it for about four months.

The trick is...you need to watch it with Mrs. Pusser. She'll get into it and you won't be able to turn it off.

The library I frequent only lets you check out two dvds at a time. Greedy bastards. And you can't even renew it, unless you check it back in and no one else has it on hold. I can't go to a different library in the town as they all have the same policy.
Anyway, like your Chicago example, usually when I check out from the library I don't end up watching them.
If I paid money to rent something though, it will be watched. As I am tight with money and I don't waste.

Sometimes I'll have ten DVDs show up in a few days. The hot releases are 3 day rentals. Oi.
Mrs. Pusser and I have tried to watch Chicago and something else always comes up first.

I watch the paid rentals. It's the library ones I have problems with.
One time I rented "Pee Wee's Big Adventure" from Blockbuster. The same day my first shipment of Netflix arrived. The kids dropped it behind the TV and I didn't miss it. A few weeks later Ballbuster told me I owed around $75 in late fees on the disc. I dropped it in the box and I've never returned.

Surprised some credit bureau hasn't sent you a notice. I got one for an overdue balance on a disc that I returned on time. I called the credit bureau but some voice mail came up. I hung up and then called BB and cussed them out for not contacting me before they sent a $12.## balance due slip to a credit bureau. I basically said I have never had a late fee and I rarely rent their anyway unless I have coupons like B1G1 Free. She said well we really appreciate your business and I will delete the balance. I said you better do that.
I called a different BB and asked my balance and they said 0.00. I said "cool."
I then called the credit bureau the next day and they said I was all fine.
God I was pissed. I don't go to BB anymore except when someone else checks them out.
