Pretty much what I expected. Awful, simply awful. Jen doesn't even look as good as she did in Daredevil.

Looks cheesy and trying too hard to be cool. I cringed at that last confrontation and when she first enters and the fans blowing in her face. I'm basing a lot on the first five minutes but... i definately won't see it.

From IMDB:Garner Struck Down with Nerve Damage
The full extent of Daredevil star Jennifer Garner's ailments have been released - she's actually suffering from severe nerve damage. The actress pulled out of promotional work for her new movie Elektra last weekend amid reports she was pregnant with boyfriend Ben Affleck's baby. Her aides insisted she had a viral infection and was trying to recover in time for this Saturday's Elektra premiere in Las Vegas. But now it seems Garner was struck down with a nerve problem resulting from a stunt she performed on the set of her TV show Alias. An insider says, "We all thought she was suffering from a viral infection, but doctors concluded that it was more. Under doctor's orders to take it easy she had to cancel a hosting gig on Saturday Night Live and the film's press junket."

I thought the trailer looked bad and I had no intention of seeing this movie in the theater. Thanks to the dreadful first five minutes, I may not see this movie EVER!!! How does a scene like that get past the scripting phase?

I think this film might be worth a rental just to see Jennifer Garner for an hour and a half. Ben Affleck is one lucky man.

I don't understand how you folks can tell the difference and how this one looks particularly bad. To me, it looks like all the other Marvel-based movies. Catwoman = X-men = Elektra = Daredevil = Punisher = Batman. There have been a few exceptions - Spiderman and Hulk - but only because the directors put their style into it. Some would argue that Burton put his style into Batman, but I still think it looks like everything else.

If that were a scene in DareDevil introducing the character of Elektra, then I would give it a , . As the first scene of a movie about her, that really is horrible. At least they got the part of her being a cold blooded assasin right this time.

I have to agree with Trigger...This movie doesnt look to be any different than most of the comic book movies out there or coming out. Not that I think there is anything wrong with that, because with the exception of a couple, I have been mildly entertained by most of them. I will give an exception to Sin City, because that one looks to really be something special. But Elektra looks no better or worse than any of the others really.

I don't get all the hate for this intro sequence. Sure, it's very by-the-numbers but it's certainly not terrible because of it. It's not particularly original but it's not done in a shoddy ameteurish fashion either. Looks like it'll be kinda like the first X-Men in that it'll be good and entertaining but nothing you'd call great.
So I'm still looking forward to this even though I'm not expecting something along the lines of Superman: The Motion Picture, Road To Perdition, or Spider-Man 2 as far as comic-to-film adaptations go.

Maybe I just don't have that thing in my brain that allows me to see special tiny details in comic book movies that make them good or bad. It's like someone holding up two green apples and asking an audience that I'm a part of which one they would rather eat - everyone in the audience knows immediately which green apple tastes like heaven and which one tastes like shit... except me - to me, they both look like the same apple and for all I know, one of em is just a clone of the other.

No, I think a lot of people just couldn't forgive Daredevil for Ben Affleck AND:
1. Michael Clarke Duncan as Kingpin (WTF?)
2. Colin Farrell's ridiculous take on Bullseye (overacting, anyone?)
3. The less-than-spectacular CGI
4. Ok, Ben Affleck
Elektra's character was the one saving grace from that film to me (and perhaps because I have a huge crush on Jennifer Garner) - and the previews to this film look like fun, but I'll admit, those first five minutes do look pretty sad...

The movie sucked, plain and simple... I own a lot of movies that Affleck is in, so I'm not one those "OMG!WTF!!? Affleck" haters.

I have no beef at all with Affleck, though I thought he was a horrible choice for DD. I just didn't like the film much at all.
UNTIL I saw the director's cut, which is actually pretty solid, bordering on good. Check it out if you haven't yet.
I don't think I'll watch this first 5 minutes...I'd rather see it in context.

 to a cool new member.
It was a very good movie. And this preview wasn't as awful as people say. I've seen worse, and in comparison to the lust everyone has for Blade, it really isn't so bad at all. This will be a much better movie than Trinity, I think.
The only thing I didn't like about the Director's Cut of DD was that they took out the part of him having sex with JG. :(
That was one of the coolest scenes 'cuz it's never been done in a superhero movie before.
I'll go see Elektra on Friday.

I thought DD was mediocre. I thought Colin Farrell's character was more interesting and eccentric than over-acted. Ben wasn't too bad either but he just wasn't a perfect fit for the role like Tobey McGuire(sp?) is as Spider-Man.

As a Daredevil fan, I'll re-state what I've said in the past about DD the movie. I think it's as close a comic book adaption we have (until Sin City comes out). Even more so than Spider-man. I remember buying those first issues of DD that Miller did and MSJ did his best to faithfully adapt them. Again, other than Bullseye without his tights, go back to any of the issues from 175 - 182. Some of those panels are pretty close to what he put onscreen.
Affleck didn't make it horrible, but he didn't make it good either. And Farrel as Bullseye wasn't over the top at all. Bullseye was always a wise ass because he knows he's that damn good. Duncan as Kingpin, well, I understand why, but they ultimately made him a big wuss in the end. As for Garner as Elektra. Her story should have ended after her pops get's killed.
As for the new movie. I guess I'll take a look. I wished it followed the Elektra Saga that Miller did. It's not overly thrilling me and I'm not a fan of Garner. So far, the trailers make it look pretty lame.

2. Most interesting and over-the-top character in the film. Made it enjoyable for me.

I want my five minutes back... :-( Anyone made out the chinese characters on her back? The one thing that bothered me in the Daredevil poster is that the chinese characters are reversed on her belt... Maybe they are correct in the movie but I couldn't bring myself to watch it.

I wouldn't say that. Punisher's probably the closest we have.
Anyway, the biggest problem I have with DD (like organic web-shooters, ugh) is the fact that he essentially kills that guy in the opening. That's not Daredevil, ever.
