Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow in other Regions

Anyone know if there is a difference in features/quality between the region 1 DVD and other regions?

Am looking to possibly get a better version when it comes out.

Expect a DTS track at the very least.

Has anyone seen the r3?

How is it? It's on 2 discs + a third game demo disc, and some model airplane. It's got DTS as well.

This one is a 2-discer with a DTS-ES track.

Those two are the same I think. The one on DVD Detective says it includes "The Flying Legion Interactive Game", which comes on the third disc. I read that it also includes a full bitrate DTS-track, so now all I have to know is how good the picture quality is.

Not to crap on it...but I fell asleep during this movie. Don't think DTS is gonna change my mind. But on the other hand....it would do wonders for the sound compared to the 5.1 Paramount put on it for the R1 release.

Is this for real? the cover looks really amatuerish. Even though I found the story kind of flawed, I thought visually this movie rocked!

here's the link to the KoreanDVD listing:

looks like it's in DTS-ES matrixed, not discreet 6.1 sound:

http://www.koreandvds.com./dvddetail.html?id=25976

however, link denotes that it's English dubbed (?) and English subtitles - what's that about. Is the DTS-ES track actually not in English, then?

All of their dvds that are english language say 'Dubbing: English' it is just how they list them.

Well, in Scandinavia a local company is distributing it. It's because Paramount did not produce the film, but merely distributed it.

I just got my R3 copy today from yesasia.com. It is a matrixed 6.1 DTS-ES soundtrack as well as 6.1 EX. I blind bought it because I never got a chance to see it in theaters. I did hear many people say everything from it's boring, to it's okay, to it's spectacular. I personally liked it a lot, it was a great visual movie, even the story was okay. It was little odd seeing the Iron Giant detroying NYC though (at least that's what I thought they looked like). But for those who did like it and are interested in the R3 IVL edition, I recommend it. Oh, the picture of the cover is weird-looking because it's a reflective-looking silver-toned and very shiny. The dvd also comes with a thin black cardboard case that has the "Sky Captain DIY 3D Model Plane" and a dvd-rom of the "The Flying Legion" interactive game. It was only $23.00 shipped. I haven't played the game or gotten to the extras yet.

The picture quality as far as I can tell is excellent. The one drawback for me is that this was the first time I've seen it. I remember the trailers showing the overall intentional soft look, but there wasn't any kind of pixelation, the blacks were nice and deep and course the sound is top-notch. But I haven't seen the Region 1 to compare it with. There are no commentaries though, which for me personally, I just wasn't interested in. Actually I just finished watching the first doc and it covers just about everything I was interested in on how they came up with the design, concept, and how they filmed it.

Allrighty, cool. Thanks. As long as there are some great behind the scenes footage and an asskicking DTS track, I guess I'm gonna be pretty happy with it.

Anyone know what the R2 or R4 contains ? So far it seems like I'll just stick with the R1.

No commentary track(s) for R3? Since i'm a sucker for that stuff, i'll probably pick up a used R1 - if i like the movie enough (blind buy).

I'm confused what exactly you're looking for. Is DTS-ES and a second disc of extras not enough???
