Appleseed(2003) on dvd, when?
Hey, does anyone know when we can expect this on R1 dvd, since we properly won't see it here in europe on dvd or in the cinema-
What studio will release it?
I can see that Genon has the rights, how are there dvds normally?
Let's hope we don't get eng. CC for the hearing impaired only!
See what they got in R2 Jap. I dream of something like that, I especially like the little figurs!. Just a pity that it hasn't got eng. subs.

This will probably be a summer release for Geneon. They do some really great releases, so don't worry about the DVD... it will likely have everything the Japanese release got, as well as proper subtitles, English 5.1 audio, the works. And it's very possible they would do a Collector's Edition set, just like Japan. If there's one thing anime fans like, it's a limited edition collector's item.

I personally bought the R2 single disc of Appleseed.
It had no English subtitles but since I know quite a bit of Nihonggo, I could understand the gist of the film.
Nevertheless, I will still get the R1 version if Geneon gets it right. This movie is incredible and the first 10 minutes is worth the price of the dvd. What's good about it is that the action scenes keep getting better as the movie goes by and it doesn't get too philosophical in its explanation of human existence.

Cool! I heard that this film is actually the first of a trilogy, have anyeone heard that?
Found it here;
http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=11157
"The film is the first in a proposed trilogy, with part two set to come out next summer in Japan. Part Three should hopefully surface in summer 2006. The first instalment of Appleseed will also be released in America this summer by Geneon."

All I've seen is rumours that this will be released in US theatres this spring/summer. I'd heard of it being released earlier, but only in old posts on websites. Here is an example:
http://www.filmthreat.com/News.asp?Id=2196
I'm assuming it won't come out on DVD in the US before it's released in the theatres. Does anyone have some links/info on this? I'd love to see it in a theatre, I've been looking forward to seeing this flick (with english subs) for a long time.

Excellent! Gotta love how it's being released in all of SIX states. Pffftt... Guess that means I won't see it in the theatres.
Any word if this has been dubbed/edited/audio-chopped for the US release?

found this bit of news at icv2.com
Geneon has slated the release of the Appleseed feature, based on the manga by Masamune Shirow, for May 10th in three different SKUs. The Feature Only edition will include the film with English and Japanese soundtracks, and commentary from both the director (Shinji Aramaki, who also did Bubblegum Crisis) and producer (Sori, who also did Ping Pong) for $19.98.
The Appleseed Special Edition includes the feature plus a bonus DVD with a "making of" featurette, character data, mechanical data, an Appleseed glossary, and the theatrical trailer at a MSRP of $29.98.
The Appleseed Special Edition with Figure includes the feature and bonus DVDs, plus a limited edition Briareos action figure at a $49.98 MSRP.
