Hey, aslong as it turns a profit I don't see why we should bitch about it. We all have the ability to not watch and if the money this makes goes to original scripts to be made, then why you hatin' playa?

That one I am actually interested in seeing because the latest I've heard, if The Aviator does well, Scorsese might do this one.

Not surprised - especially after seeing this thread - http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=401928

*I was gonna go with the 'originality' angle, but figured it was too easy

More importantly, that money goes towards telling the studios that remakes are profitable and goes towards supporting more unwanted remakes. Just get the original and watch it now!

I like the angle they're taking with the Departed (Infernal Affairs), the whole Irish underworld angle, this could be an instance where the original can go beyond the original. Scorsece hasnt even seen the original film, he's just going off of the script. I recently rewatched Oldboy with a friend and the first thing he said when it was over was, "They're remaking this in the US?" So we either get a mainstream pic that costs so many dollars that wimps out on the ending or its a smaller budgeted movie (and c'mon, nothing in the original screams big budget) that's brave enough to keep the original tone and ending. As long as they keep the main hallway fight I'll be happy.
