Simpsons S5 Early Release?
Anyone else get Simpsons S5 from Amazon today? I got mine via USPS this afternoon. Amazon site says it isn't released until December 21st? DO DVDs sometimes release early?

Yes, it happens sometimes mainly because amazon shoots to get it to you on or before the release date. If you are close to a warehouse or just one that gets the order sent out early you may sometimes get it earlier then street date.

It hasn't shipped from Amazon for me yet, dammit!
Usually, Amazon ships my pre-orders out on the Saturday before the release date, and I get them on either Monday or Tuesday.

I wish I had the time to even take it out of the shrink wrap! Between work and being out of town this weekend I wont even be able to start watching it until Monday!
Maybe I will call in sick on Monday and have a Simpsons day!

I got it a few days ago - it's great and all, but it's sorta frustrating.
For previous seasons, when I watch the commentaries (the season 5 set has commentary for ALL episodes, btw), I like to put on the subtitles and be able to also read the dialogue at the same time.
You can't do that with this set - what they've done is let you watch an episode with a deleted scene, or an animatic - and the sub-title stream is taken up by a logo that pops up on the screen when you're supposed to press "enter" on your remote to access the feature at the appropriate time - so no subtitles like the other sets.
The menus are a kick and function well enough, I was frustrated with them at first looking for subtitles (as you can't select them on-the-fly), not know they weren't there.
You can watch some of the extras by themselves on the last disc, but there's a lot of extras that you can only get to during the episode itself.
Conan O'Brien is all over the commentaries via satellite phone and he's a hoot as always.
Jon Lovitz shows up on the first one, for no reason (he's not in the episode) - but he's hilarious as he accuses everyone of being gay.
Al Jean: "Why is Lovitz commenting on a Simpsons episode he had nothing to do with, while he does no commentary on The Critic dvd, which is the star of?"
Lovitz: "Because I wasn't ASKED!!"
