OTA HDTV recievers
Has anyone tried the US Digital HDTV reciever from walmart? How does it work? I see people post they have 70% signal stregnth. How does that translate in picture quality? I know HDTV is all or nothing, you get a picture or you don't. But what is the differance between getting a picture with 70% stregnth and 80%?
Are there any people here who get their HDTV over the air?

DVD Talk God
I get a great picture with as low as 50% signal strength, so I'd imagine that would be more than enough to have no issues.

Looks tempting...
There's a Samsung ext. turner available for preorder for $249 @ www.onecall.com.
You still need an antenna for this box to receive the signal....right?

These all have DVI out, I assume, or are there some HDMI receivers for around this price.

It is worth checking out you local best buy. They were blowing out open box Samsung's a couple of months back when I got mine for $99. My Samsung has a DVI output also, but I haven't upgraded from Component yet.

The meter represents the strength of the signal. It has no bearing on the quality of the picture, (You either have HD or you don't.) but can provide an indication of how stable your HD service might be since the HD receiver locks onto the signal. With a weaker signal you may see an occasional video/audio drop out (LOS) as the receiver looses the signal and attempts to reacquire. Higher signal strength usually suggests a more consistent viewing experience, with minimal LOS. I have a LG LST 3100A, which I purchased about 9 months ago for OTA viewing. It's excellent.

It's probably the best of the tuners out there at about $300.
