No Adam Sandler movie as Steve Polychronopolous?

Steve Polychronopolous was an outrageously funny song from Sandler's album What The Hell Happened To Me?, and it tells the story of obnoxious Steve Polychronopolous from the first person. Steve Polychronopolous is fodder for a feature-length movie, and being that the song was done back in the late 90's, I'm surprised the character hasn't appeared in movie-form as yet.

Any plans in the works for this? Or has Sandler gone the "serious" route, for good?

Ok....I guess I'll speak up and say
Whaaaaaaaa?

I don't think Sandler can survive doing only serious/semi-serious role. But a movie based off a 3 minute song? And a song I remember as only mildly amusing at best.

I don't think Sandler could survive doing serious dramatic roles only either, but considering that Spanglish is his second film that's not a Adam Sandler comedy, I don't expect that to happen. And Spanglish is a drama comedy anyway, not a straight drama.

His films do tend to be softening up though. I doubt we'll see him do something as off the wall as Billy Madison anytime soon, but who knows, I'd like him to.

Not at this point, no. A younger version - five years ago, maybe, pre-Spanglish and Punch-drunk Love, would probably have loved to.

If Sandler were to make a movie about any of his songs he should do one based upon The Goat.

Buttmunker, between this and the "DeNiro doesn't look like this" thread, you are shaping up to be the king of pointless threads.

I think Little Nicky ended the possibility of Sandler doing any more off-the-wall unlikable characters, with the exception of high pedigree stuff like Punch Drunk Love. He's stuck to the Big Daddy "likable doofus" role for just about everything else since.

Hopefully we'll never see another Adam Sandler movie at all (serious or non-funny).

Lorne Michaels has made quite the career out of just such a thing (Ladies Man, Night at the Roxbury, all only funny for 3 minutes yet somehow inexplicably extended into feature length films. To this day, I swear TLM movie was only made because Meadows wouldn't leave SNL unless he got a picture done).

I know where you live, buddy. I'll be keeping an eye on you.

That old adage applies: you're only remembered for your last pointless thread. Don't forget I did that one about Queen, too

But it is true that movie directors have made full length movies on less than a 3-minute song (case-in-point the Lorne Michaels post). Short stories have been stretched, some for better, some for worse. Adam Sandler can stretch a 1-dimensional character into a blockbuster movie, so you'd think "Poly" would be a shoo-in for him, but maybe Billy Madison was enough (a big fuckin dick and half retarded).
