MySony has a new area called DVD Central where you can register your DVDs. They can be from any studio, they don't have to be Sony/Columbia TriStar. For every 10 DVDs you register you get a coupon good for either $10 off $50, $20 off $250, or $50 off $500 redeemable in the Rewards Central area.
They have a lot of Superbits in the Rewards Central area, about 4 pages worth right now. Most are $18. With the coupon you could get 3 Superbits for $44 (shipping is free). That averages out to $14.67 per Superbit. Many other DVDs available too.
The coupon is emailed as soon as you register the 10th DVD.
Pretty nice since you don't have to deal with international shipping to get these prices and do not have to get a qualifying Superbit like Spider-Man 2.

Why is this important to them?
Is there a way to stop piracy by doing this?

I think its all part of marketing, they are probably trying to get an idea of what their sony customers like. You have to fill out a profile and with that they get alot of info (if its filled out correctly of course). It's like a survey, and nowadays companies have to offer incentives in order for people to fill out surveys.
I got the same email yesterday but didn't really think it was that hot of a deal. I guess if you're in the market for superbits then it might be a good deal.

At the time I was filling some out I was thinking that maybe
it was for market research purposes. One of the things you
have to enter is where it was purchased. The titles people
are buying and where they're getting them at might be
useful to them.

How many coupons do they mail you? I have 300+ DVDs (like most of us). I could snag a LOT of coupons if they give them out for every 10 you register.
Link?....

One thing to remember is that while they don't charge for shipping, they do charge state sales tax, or at least they did the one time that i ordered from them.

There are currently 36 Superbits available at MySony, although not the newer ones such as Cliffhanger, Guns of Navarone, and Spider-Man 2.

For now just try some DVD that doesn't start with a number. I entered 10-12 pretty easily.

This is pretty stupid on Sony's part - anyone can just make up a list of movies...

all my dvd upcs consist of numbers. it looks like they insist on inserting a 0 or other number in front of the normal upc used by dvdprofiler. any ideas of an easier way to import our collections than manually retyping thousands of upcs?

DVD Profiler omits the first and last #s in the UPC code. That's why their UPC #s are only 10 digits instead of 12.

I got a 10% off coupon in my inbox as well, now I just have to find stuff that I can't/won't be able to get as an enrollment. So far Close Encounters 2 Disc is the only one (with the exception of superbits).

There weren't 3 more superbits I wanted, but I did three more anyway, because I found a pretty good price on one.
They have the Monty Python and The Holy Grail Collectors Edition Boxed Set for $23. It's $32 at Amazon and $43 at Best Buy. Along with it I got Bad Boys Superbit and Jumanji Collectors Edition for a total of $46.00 (almost the price of Best Buys Python by itself).
So, I spent about $90 today, but I got 4 Superbits, a ~$40 box set and a bonus DVD that I had on my wishlist anyway. Not bad.

Yes, I got the 10% off too, but the $10 off $50 was a bit better and you can't stack them. If you were going to spend over $100, the 10% would come in handy (or less than $50).

Yeah that's what I was thinking, I'll probably end up getting the Starship Troopers: SB, Close Encounters 2 Disc and Resident Evil: DE for $40 shipped and just save the 10% off something down the road.

The coupon code they sent me is DVDCENTRAL1. I don't see how that could be a unique code so maybe anyone can use it. I don't really see any great deal there though, other than the Holy Grail which isn't pricy enough to get the $10 off. The Forever Knight Trilogy is the only DVD set over $50, if you wanted to get $10 off of that.

They have some pretty decent prices on TV shows too. For example:
The Critic: The Entire Series - $28.00 (Amazon = $39.96; DDD = $37.08)
The Tick: The Entire Series - $19.00 (Amazon = $23.96; DDD = $22.06)
Mad About You: Season One - $19.00 (Amazon = $23.96; DDD = $22.06)
Mad About You: Season Two - $25.00 (Amazon = $31.96; DDD = $29.86)
Larry Sanders: Season One - $23.00 (Amazon = $35.00; DDD = $29.86)
Just Shoot Me: S1 & S2 - $27.00 (Amazon = $35.96; DDD = $29.86)
This is hit and miss, however, as some of their tv dvd sets are priced higher than Amazon and DDD.

I'm tempted to get King of Queens: S1 and Panic Room: 3-Disc SE for $40...hmm...
