I enjoyed it, but one nitpick...

Some of the film's sets and designs seem to be based off the original '70s film. I was hoping Burton would just create an entire new vision of the film purely based off the book....

Eh, I'll be there opening day....

I wasn't really a fan of the original one, although I only saw it once... but this one looks hilarious. I was looking forward to it just because of Depp and Burton, but after seeing the trailer it's moved up to the top of my list

I don't know how you could really tell from the teaser, it all went by too fast. If it does end up looking a lot like the original, I might have to just congratulate the original for getting it right the first time.

Looks pretty Burton-esque to me.

Stills from the teaser:

Whats up with Wonka hijacking the robots from It's a Small World?

My sentiments exactly.
Still, I trust Burton will come through, as he always does.

Ugh ... that song may lead to a string of mass murders.

for the trailer, but I'll keep an open mind about the movie.

I enjoyed the first one and see this as a needless remake, but then I didn't even know it was based on a book until a few posts ago. And unnecessary remakes can still be good.

Needless remake. Wonka looks like Michael Jackson. If they were going to go off the book, great...but if your inspiration is the classic movie - why bother?

Wow, here I was thinking this would be a totally new Tim Burton stlyized movie but it looks identical to the original.

Why is everyone assuming they are basing this new one off the original? I haven't read that anywhere. As far as I know, they are going from the book. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, though. I still enjoyed the teaser, nonetheless.

When Willie Wonka is wearing those big sunglasses, he reminds me of one of the members of the group, Deelite.

Interesting look. The music sounds scary but that's probably the feel that they're going for, creepy and happy.

My only gripe....

Danny Elfman.

I really don't need to hear the score for Beetlejuice 50 billion times.

I think Burton sucks, but I'll see this anyway as a fan of Depp and the original film... and the book.

This looks pretty dismal. The sets look cheap to me for some reason and Johnny Depp looks horrendous.

I am hoping this doesn't suck.

Having seen the teaser, Johnny Depp will be enough to get me to buy a ticket. While I would steer clear of this movie with another actor and director, Burton and Depp have me sold.

I just have the feeling that what WB wants them to deliver and want they are actually going to deliver will be two different animals. I expect this one to have a rather dark sense of humor about it, and hope it does!
