New XXX:State of the Union trailer

http://sonypictures.com/movies/triplex2/index.html for the new XXX:State of the Union trailer which I have to admit looks pretty cool, even with my initial doubts about Ice Cube, although I do see that they had to "street" up his character. Hopefully Dafoe will be an awesome villain.

DaFoe as a villian. How original. Is that all the guy does nowadays - play over the top villians?

Well since I hate Vin Disel with all of my being, this one looks leaps and bounds better than the first. I think I'll actually see this XXX, I didn't even bother with the first one after I saw the trailers.

Nothing has convinced me that Ice Cube can actually act. I've heard from one person close to this movie that he is really awful.

Thought the first was so-so. I like over the top action sequences. But XXX got a little silly.

Hope this one is better.

Looks just about as bad as the first one. Ice Cube needs to spend the money from this film on acting lessons or invest it so that he won't have to work anymore.

I think the film will suffer without Vin Diesel in the role, he was one of the better things about XXX, he has a charisma about him, some don't like him, but some do, he can act, but XXX wasn't written for acting scenes, it was pop corn flick. What has Ice Cube really done, I don't mind him, but strange casting choice.

I like William Defoe.

The film seems to have alot of action in it, probabely be the main attraction.

I too hope this is better than the original. I couldn't even take XXX seriously enough as a straight-up action movie. So in that regard, this shows promise.

I hated the first XXX, thought it was one of the worst movies ever. However, Ice Cube is usually charasmatic on screen (Torque not withstanding), and the trailer for this one actually looked pretty good.

I actually think this is a cool approach to a franchise... get a different "unlikely hero badass" to be the XXX agent each go around. I know it wasn't what they originally had intended, but it actually is a good idea. I wasn't blown away by the first XXX, but I thought it was enjoyable for what it was.

Wow. Do I notice a trend....

2 Fast 2 Furious = Diesel and Cohen out. Cole Hauser, James Remar, and John Singleton in.
XXX 2 = Diesel and Cohen out. Williem Dafoe in.

It just proves that Rob Cohen is a terrible director, as if most didn't already know that.

Yeah I agree Rock would have been awesome. Maybe he'll be in the third one if they decided to make a 3rd that is. I dont mind Vin, but maybe ice cube can carry the load who knows?

No, I also think Ice Cube is a pretty good actor, although maybe a bit pudgy to play an action hero. He was believable in that Mars movie though.

Dragonheart
Daylight
The Skulls
The Fast and the Furious
XXX [as I've said many times before, XXX was an episode of McBain from the Simpsons -- minus the satire]

The closest thing this guy has ever made to a non-crappy movie was Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story... and even that still kinda blew.

Rob Cohen is a terrible director. It's funny that him not directing Fast and Furious 2 or XXX2 probably has nothing to do with his lack of talent, but that's Hollywood for you.

Nonetheless, this does look pretty terrible, but will it be fun terrible like the first one? The first one, despite being downright idiotic, did have some impressive stunts and explosions. Actually, if you watch XXX like it was Forrest Gump, you know, an idiot accidentally going through all these incredible things, it's a little more entertaining. Cause Vin Diesel's character was downright stupid, but he nor the movie seemed to notice.

I am getting tired of seeing the President as a character in a movie. But if they still blow shit up real good I'll prolly give it a single watch, on DVD.

Nobody's mentioned the director of this one, Lee Tamahori (who directed Die Another Day). D.A.D. was a pretty good movie with some good action scenes (but it got really cheesy in the end). I wasn't too big on the studios making another XXX since I hated the first one, but maybe I'll go see this one just cause of the director.

I didnt know Diesel was out until I saw the trailer, and I guess i'm one of the few who actually likes Ice Cube the Actor. I do think he can act when given the right material, and he has a charisma about him that i like to watch. I think he is either too typecasted, or just chooses to stick to familiar territory im very interested to see him as an action hero. Might have to give this one a shot.
