Circuit City: $5 off $25 Coupon at Pizza Hut YMMV

I searched the bargains forum for 'pizza,' and I didn't find this tidbit, so I apologize if this is a repost.

Head over to a Pizza Hut and ask for some coupons. Included on the coupon sheet is a $5 off $25 purchase at Circuit City. I asked the clerk if I could have a few more, and he gave me a handful.

The coupons can be used in-store, or over the internet, and they expire on the 21st of December. Some Best Buys accept competitor coupons, so you could use them there, if you are so inclined.

Now I just need to find out if they'll accept coupons on a prior purchase.

That's what took me so long to figure out. The codes posted above are like keys that allow access to a one-time coupon code and pin number. The process goes as follows:

Go to www.circuitcity.com/pizzahut ; it'll bring up a screen containing a black box that says something about entering a "pizza and plasma" contest. You enter your e-mail address and code there and hit enter. It will thank you for entering the contest and, if all goes accordingly, you will get an e-mail within an hour or so that contains an actual coupon code and pin number, which you then enter during checkout (underneath where you put your credit card info). Sounds like a lot, but it's actually quite simple. Hope this helps! :)

Update: Since yesterday, I've supposedly entered 3 codes successfully, but still have not received any emails/coupons. I even went to a pizza hut last night on the way home from work and they had none either. :-(

The ones I received just said $5 off your next order. Nothing about a minimum order. So I used four of them on my order which took off $20. Perhaps they were sending out coupons earlier, but the ones I received were definately gift cards.

That is a gift a card -- note the # followed by a pin #. Also where you key it in is in the Gift Card section. I have used a few cc.com coupons over the last month or so (not these $5 ones) and yes they are the same as gift cards.

That is what I am wondering? The email that came with the code says:

"Offer expires at 11:59 PM on 12/21/2004. Valid for online purchases only."

Does that mean this promotion ends at that time or the codes will expire?

How did you get the gift card code? It sounds like a code sent out by CC for a promotion. Such can expire pretty soon. If the gift card is real (purchased by someone), the back of the card says it will administer monthly fee if not used within 24 months or something like that.
