I'm Thinking of Getting X-Box For Christmas

I've been a Nintendo guy for many years.
I've had Gamecube since it came out, N64 before that and SNES before that.
I have about 20 GC games (all Mario games, LOTR, Metroid and sports games mostly).

I've been thinking of getting X-Box.
What are some exclusive games on X-Box that are great ?

What's the cheapest price right now for X-Box ?
I've seen the bundle at Target for $149.
How much is just the system (no bundle) ?

Ebay would be your best bet for some killer deals...

I recommend the following:

Prince of Persia - Warrior Within
Halo 2
ShadowOps
Mortal Kombat: Deception
Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders

I don't have a XBOX though, just saying what I'd get...hehe...

I'll add a few more...

Rainbow Six 3: BA
Ninja Gaiden
Star Wars: KOTOR
Spider-Man 2: If you can get it for $20

FYI

$149 is well worth it for an XBOX...At least MS didn't remove the digital output on thier system like Nintendo.

You have to buy the Advanced AV Pack to get digital output, I believe.

Oh, and as long as you want game suggestions...

Fable is a must for any Xbox owner.

I just got an Xbox recently myself....so far two games that are a must are:

Halo 1 --- this game is amazing, the best FPS one player experience
since Goldeneye(N64), I hope to get Halo 2 for X-Mas.

Chronicles of Riddick --- this game will blow you away even if you are not a
fan of the movie.

Also got an X-box about 2 weeks ago. Bought it solely for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and it was definately worth the cost. Another recommendation for Beyond Good and Evil too. Hands down my favorite game of last year, but sadly it was overlooked.

Hey

I've had the XBox now for about a month. I "had" a PS2. After one week on the XBox the PS2 went up for sale and I haven't regretted it one bit. Funny but I got mine at Target as well.

Without breaking the bank right off the bat there's some very good titles in the "Platinum Hits" ($20) area to get you started. Catch them on sale when they're around $15. You can pick up three of them for the price of a single new game. Star Wars KOTOR and Crimson Sky's are two fun games. I'd also get Halo 1 first before Halo 2. It can be had for $30 and under. And check out the Top Spin that comes with the system. I had my doubts but it's become additive. It offers a break from the more faster pace games but still fun.

Have Fun

I've had my Xbox for about 1 1/2 years and I love it. Except for the Tony Hawk games, I always get my multi-console games for the Xbox. They almost always look and run better on that system. I couldn't imagine playing a Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon or PoP game on the PS2.
There aren't that many games that are Xbox exclusives and must-have except for the Halo and KOTOR games and Riddick, but they're reason enough. Oh, don't forget the racing games. Rallisport Challenge 2 is wonderful and PGR 2 is pretty great as well. The Live system is a thing of beauty. It's such a well-run online system and easily worth the price you pay.

Having said all that, I couldn't imagine not having a PS2. To miss out on Ratchet & Clank UYA, Jak 3, Sly 2, MGS 3, GTA : SA? I'd be regretting that choice.

Not an exclusive, but since you don't have a ps2: get the Grand Theft Auto double pack.

My spouse got me one for Christmas but i had to hunt it down yesterday so I would have one Christmas morning. Toys R Us and Target were out of stock. I got the last X-box holiday bundle that Wal-Mart had for $149. I've played on a PS/2 for about 2 years. I picked up the Advanced A/V Cable (for stereo and S-Video) at half off at Toys R Us for 10 bucks. I loaded up on X-box games on Black Friday so I will be ready to go.

I agree. I finally traded in my PS2 last week and I'm glad I did it. It was jsut colletcing dust. Once I got XBOX(around the launch) I just had less and less reason to play PS2 especially when LIVE started up. I would look for games but the last 2 I bought for PS2 got played once or twice then traded in.

I think you'll be very happy with XBOX.

Sell your PS2 and Gamecube. After you get an XBOX you won't even look at them again.

I don't have PS2 but I would never sell my Gamecube.
Keep the recommendations coming !

You guys telling him that once he goes Xbox, he'll never look back is priceless. I was like that in the beginning. My Gamecube and PS2 just sat there. But sooner or later you'll want to play them again, and that happened to me. Now my Xbox is collecting dust. I don't even play Halo 2 anymore

yep they each have their dry spells. Fortunately they are at different times of the year for me. One month the Xbox will have a great release and not the next, but that next one has a killer GCN game and so on. Works out great.

There are alot of good driving games on the system. That is basically what I play on XBox. Halo and Halo 2 are musts. There are other titles that may be of interest based on price. Oddworld - one of the first XBox releases was good and should be cheap. There are other examples like that as well. The GTA Double pack would be nice since you don't have a PS2. I already had them on PS2 or I would have got the cleaner XBox versions.

Oh, you will go back to your Nintendo at some point. XBox is cool, but Nintendo still has great game development. Pretty visuals are not everything. XBox has all the tools for the job, but the quality games are lacking many times. I have all the systems and each have strong points. I play them relatively equally. So do not do as others suggest and give up on Nintendo.

I agree. I haven't used my GameCube in a while, but I would never sell it. I can't imagine not being able to play Ratchet and Clank - Up Your Aresenal either! That game is incredible. As far as single player goes, I think it's better than Halo 2 (apples and oranges). Unless you REALLY need the money, why limit your future options?

Yeah you can add me to the list of people who picked up an xbox for Christmas, went to pick one up as a present and got one for myself also. I figured I'd get back into the console since playing on my PC is getting stale.
