I assumed he was looking down on the city from a roof top. The other thought was the poster shows the difficult path to being The Batman. You know, the "brooding dark" Batman Bob Kane came up with.

It's alright. Nothing special at all.
I think the poster's look is just to convey that it's not going to be super-neon-cartoonish-batman, in contrast to the last few films. Its purpose is to tell the audience "don't expect THAT".
I don't think that's enough, though. I agree that it needs more. It's Batman! Have him doing something! Ever see the pic of Batman bursting in through the roof? That would be a great teaser image. Just that pic and "2005".

You know when everyone loves a new poster or trailer or whatever but there are always one or two that just seem to disagree just to disagree. Well I guess I am number two. I'm not saying it just for the sake of it though. I do like the silhouette, especially the humble pose of it. But I would have preferred a different background. Actually, that was one thing that really surprised me about the teaser trailer that was released a while ago - the scenes taking place outside of Gotham with (gasp) actual sunlight! It's hard to think of any sunlit scenes in the prior four movies (and no, the "Gotham thawing" scene from that last film doesn't count).
Granted, you don't want the whole film to take place in a sunlit meadow or something, but I think it does help to give what we've seen on this film a little different feel from the previous films.

For a teaser poster, I think it serves its purpose. Simple and to the point.
Can't wait to watch this movie. Hopefully, it will erase the awful memory of watching "Batman and Robin" in the theatre and walking out in the middle of the movie.

I find it in line with Batman: Year One. I have no problem with it.
The teaser was pretty bad ass. Shows enough of the training and doesn't give any of thw twist away and shows a little of the making of the suit.

I take it that's Katie Holmes' character he's carrying? At first glance it looked like a take-off of the "Death in the Family" TPB cover.
Is the character Holmes plays a major character from the comics or one that made a few appearances like Chase Meridian? I only ask because I don't recall many women being with Wayne for an extended period of time in the comics aside from Selina Kyle, and that was because she was Catwoman. Even Vicki Vale made few appearances to my recollection.
While I really want to see this movie, I have the sinking feeling that way it is going to be delivered might not sit well with modern audiences wanting bat action right off the bat. True, Nolan is being faithful with the whole Batman as a detective/film-noir look, but I don't know how many people will buy into it.

An 8 minute preview for Batman Begins is going to be shown during the season finale of "Smallville" on May 18th! I'm not sure what time it will be aired though, because the finale is going to be 90 minutes long.

I LOVE what they are doing for the marketing of the new Batman. I hope it gets people in the theatre. Most people I talk to dont know about the new take on the movie and that the movie is suppose to be about Batman not the villians. A strong ad campagne should help!

I liked the DC logo, but it did have the feeling of being a direct rip of the Marvel logo.
As for the voice...well, to be reasonable, if he did speak in his regular voice, people might recognize him, he's a public figure.
He did overplay it though. Still in the grand scheme of things, no big deal.
