Too Much To Connect
I'd like to set up my stereo to be able to listen to CD's, play old cassettes which would then be converted with my stand alond CD recorder, watch TV through the DVR, watch DVD's, play video games and listen to Sirius, but my stereo doesn't seem to have enough inputs for all that.
Is there something I could buy, like a switch that would enable all that?
Any recommendations?

Get a component selector switch/box, you can get a cheapy like this mad catz one at ebgames http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/238745.asp
but I do not believe it has digital audio input/output...if that is important, you will need to kick down more cash

Your list of components isn't above the average number. You say you just bought a new receiver but it doesn't have enough audio inputs for a CD player, DVD player, TV audio, a video game system and a satellite radio? That's about 3 analog and 3 digital inputs.

This is what I bought:
Pioneer 500W 5.1-Ch. A/V Home Theater Receiver
And I'd like to connect the following:
CD player
CD recorder
Cassette deck
DVD
DVR
Sirius
Video game console
I haven't hooked it up yet, but just looking at the back, it didn't appear to have enough inputs. Perhaps it does and it's just an oversight on my part.
The video game is optional though as it gets the least amount of work out of all the components I own.
I was just wondering if there were alternatives if I were to run out of inputs.

Looking at that link it looks like you should have enough inputs. The only possible problem could be if you need more than what it provides for digital connections. It only has one optical and your digital inputs needs might be three optical in which case you'll need a digital switch. Read the manual to see how they recommend all of the audio connections need to be done. There should be a picture showing each input being connected to each device so you can match it up to what you have.

the mad catz switcher sucks. I have it, and my ps2, hd cable box, and my dvd player all show faint purple lines across my tv when going through thte madcatz switch. it is annoying and I soetimes have to unplug it and just manually switch them behind my TV. I am trying to find a switcher now that is better but not too expensive...
