Bang & Olufsen Plasma Screens????
This is probably a stupid question, but does anybody own one of these?
I was browsing their Houston Galleria Store and noticed a 42 inch Plasma screen that pretty much blew my fucking mind!.
They had Monsters Inc. running and the image quality did not have the film-like look that I'm use to. I've seen the film 100 times, but never like this. The image was crisp, clear, and quite simply amazing.
I asked the Sales Associate to give me some background on the system....and (of course) he was no help
He just told me that they have some sort of revolutionary processor that makes their monitors stand out above the rest.
The price was about 10k.
Is he full of shit or do I need to get out more?????

I think you need to get out more. And you need to demo something filmed, not just a digital movie transferred to digital media.
I can imagine it looks very nice, B&O tends to do that (even when the power is turned off) but it probably costs 2-3 times what it should.

He's not full of shit, but you still should try to get out more. Demo some other similar sets and see if they match up. They may or may not. As for costing 2-3 times what it should, probably not. Overpriced, sure. But if it's the B&O I'm thinking of it's going to be HDTV not EDTV like most of the 42" plasmas that come in at the $2k-3k range.

I've seen the film demo'd on various LCDs and Plasmas at Sears, CC, BB and Frys. It always seemed to have a "grainy" look.
Of course....this could probably be from:
- DVD player used
- Type of Cables
- Monitor Settings
I guess my problems is that I've never seen a Plasma or LCD/Projection tv properly calibrated.
I believe this is the Television I saw:

According to this thread at AVS the 42" ED B&O is based on a Panasonic.
How far away were you viewing from when you noticed other models looked "grainy"? If they were EDTV plasmas and you were less than 9 feet you might have been noting the screen door effect (SDE). In a store like Best Buy it's hard to get that far away from a set they way they have things set up. Move to 11-12 feet away from an EDTV plasma and the SDE will disappear.

I was about 5 ft or less from the "grainy" models @ BB, CC and Frys. I stood right in front of the B&O model.
I'll probably go back and have the associate demo a film-like movie like Spider-man or Underworld and see if it yields the same results.
Maybe I'll swing by Tweeter or the Home Theater Store and check out their setups.
