The Official "I Got my Nintendo DS today" thread
Alright, who got it? I picked mine up today since I still have friends that work in videogame stores, however the official street date is Sunday the 21st. However, I saw it for sale at Wal-Mart last night, so its possible to already have one.

Taking the girlfriend Sunday morning to get one. I'm still waiting on mine.
By the way, Mr. Driller Drill Spirits will probably be on extremely low supply until mid-December, so if you wanted it, be sure to grab it if you see it.

My EB has everything in the back room but were apparently told not to sell anything until Sunday. So I'll have mine then. The guy working the register actually brought the games out so I could see them. He said they didn't have a lot of them, so I went ahead and preordered Mario and Feel the Magic. I believe the other games were mostly EA crap and Spiderman 2. No Mr. Driller.

At work we got the DS's in and a few games, Madden, Spiderman 2 (which has two different angles while you play, one on each screen...kinda cool), Super Mario 64, Feel The Magic, and The Urbz.
The unit looks cool, but I'm on the fence...we'll see.

I already picked up Mario DS yesterday, but no Mr Driller. Looks like this will be a tough find.
Game Rush told me the DS probably won't be in there until next week. I hope they are wrong about that.

No scan of the recipt since it can't be 'sold' till Sunday. Understand?
Anyway, I think Im going to buy Asphault on Sunday, since from what I played, it was decent. Mario and FTM are great.

If I get the system, Mario DS will be my first buy for sure, that games looks great with all the additions.
The game that caught me off guard was Spiderman, looks really sweet, can't wait to read the reviews.

The idjuts at Blockbuster left me a message on my machine this afternoon at 5:08 pm. The guy said that my DS and the two games I pre-ordered were there and could be picked up at anytime.
I didn't get the message until 11:15 pm. I hauled ass in the pouring rain to pick it up. When I got there some teen-age bubblegum popper told me he hasn't even heard of anything called a Nintendo DS. He called "guy in charge" and he told them that the release date had been changed to Sunday and I couldn't pick them up until then. I was/am tired and have a headache so I let it slide................. until tomorrow.

For anyone that has played it so far, the system is great, one minor problem, the A, B, X, and Y buttons are a little small. Not having an analog stick doesn't affect it that much. The Touch Screen, is sort of like a flattened out Analog Stick, the games coming out will also be great. PSP doesn't look to have many good games when it launches. The DS also has a huge game library right out of the box with all of the GBA games that it is compatible with. One more thing on the PSP, a Portable GAMING system is made for gaming, not movies, or, music. To be a gaming system a good battery life is crucial. PSP will have a weak battery, and I won't buy a 2nd battery for 45 dollars as an accesory if my system losses all of its power. The DS on the other hand should have a great battery life.
I will gladly give my 150 dollars to Nintendo on Nov. 21st for a DS.
When the PSP I will see how it does, and then make my decision wheather to purchase it, or not.

played a demo unit at BB yesterday and was less than impressed
didn't care for the graphics, control, or gameplay of the Metroid demo
can't make an informed decision about how the unit feels in hand as it was strapped down but from what I tried it felt awkward
will wait to hear about future games, durability of touch screen, more innovative uses of dual and touch screens, etc
also am waiting to try the PSP before deciding if I will purchase either new portable (by then the DS should have about 30 color variations available )
in the meantime my PS2 and GBASP will do just fine

Keep in mind, most games have atleast 3 control schemes available depending how YOU want to play.
Loving Mario and Feel the Magic.
