Hi, I had added a post to one of the STL request threads. When I bought the DVD, I deleted the post so that I would stop getting the email reply notifications... but they still keep on coming!!!
Is there something that I can do about it??
Thanks, Lar

Move, change your name. Get a new identity. Hope to hell the DVDtalk police do not find you.
or---
Click at the bottom of the page in that thread. It should
something like-
UNSUBSCRIBE FROM THIS THREAD

Thanks RandyC,
It makes no sense because the only thread that I am subsribed to is this one!
An alias may be my only option.

Go to the Membership Control panel and change the setting for Use 'Email Notification' by default? to No.

OK.OK.
If I turn off all email notifications, then I lose the good (future posts) with the bad (STL's). Nice feature gone rabid.
Is this behavior (notifications even after one's post has been deleted) considered normal for a forum?
Maybe a warning in the STL forum and STL assistance page would be wise. The gift that keeps on giving.

It has nothing to do with the fact you deleted your post. In your control panel, you have it set to automatically subscribe to a thread that you posted in.
Done. You posted. You are now subscribed. There is no setting that says "but if I delete a post, unsubscribe me."
See... you can subscribe to threads that you did not post in.
And the answer is that Email Reply Protection thing... or click on the unsubscribe link on that thread.

But now you’re subscribed to this (bad) thread, too!! You’re doomed.
The only solution is to not post at all.
Well, that’s not entirely true. You could start a fight that gets out of hand and the thread gets closed (don’t forget to post IBTL), but then you would need some kinda protection program.
Randy, I don’t see an unsubscribe link. I think the only way to unsubscribe is thru the member control panel. And that depends on unread replies, or something like that.

Ahh, you are correct. In the CP you can unsub from all threads. That seems like a missing feature. I was sure you could unsub from one thread only. Is that maybe in VB V3?

Yes, the option to unsubscribe from one thread is part of Version 3+.
However, in the notification email you have been getting is a link to unsubscribe from that thread.

That's it!! Thanks RandyC. Your persistence is appreciated.
Yeah, I feel dumb for not having seen it. But, then again, when you get that email, who usually gets past the first link to the post?
Thanks again to all.
Now, how do I stop the emails from this thread.....? -wink- -wink- LOL
