...only this time with the transfer and sound of the Region 3 MGM DVD. I'd kill for that in R1!

Did Lions Gate buy Anchor Bay? whats the deal there. Any chance we could get a new Directors Cut DVD of AoD with cleaned up picture and DTS sound. I know theres a lot of people who'd buy it.

I already have the region 3 release, plus about 4 R1 releases. Enough is enough, yes it's a great movie but it has way too many versions of it.

some of us don't have region free players and the ability or funds to buy DVD's from overseas. So yes I would like a new R1 Directors Cut disc with cleaned up A/V

I would too. But after that, I'd buy nothing else Evil Dead related unless it is totally groundbreaking in comparison to previous releases.

Considering how cheap a region-free hacked player is (around $30!!), that shouldn't be an issue. And most of the time, the cost of importing is negligible over the cost of Best Buy or similar. I was in your boat for the longest time, but it's silly to remain any longer

No, what we really need is another version of T2. I just can't get enough of the "Ultimate", "Extreme", "Platinum" editions.

I don't own this title yet in any of its MANY forms and am still waiting for a better edition to come out before I pick up a copy.

All joking aside, there are only 3 DVDs -- it's just that Anchor Bay has continued to find different ways to repackage a couple of them. I wouldn't mind if Anchor Bay did churn out an edition similar to the R3 release -- I'm not dim enough to suggest that they pass on a higher quality edition because I have something mediocre already.

Maybe when Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash comes out, we can get a decent Army of Darkness DVD.

C'mon, we need the DC of AoD remastered with the same transfer and audio has the R3 DC! Is there a petition anywhere?

What I'd really like to see is a FINAL Director's Cut DVD. What's so far been released is the original cut Raimi submitted before he made any changes. From the commentary it's clear that he considered some of the changes he made improvements. It'd be nice if he could go back and make the edit that he is most happy with.

Also, I'd like to see the deleted scenes to be restored and remastered to better quality, with perhaps the option to view them in the film as well.

I don't really care about a brand new cut, I just want the DC to be remastered like the R3.

I believe it's a rights issue as to why the best-looking release is an R3-only release.

saw it on tv last night. have the R3, as well as the R1 LE. this movie has some great Brucey moments, but the goofy humor was a bit much.

i think i got the R3 release for $25. and that's not too bad for an import nowadays, so i am happy. movie took me by surprise, i always past it up on cable the million or so times they played iut bc the skeletons and monsters looked so cheesy and bad claymation, but i sat through it one time, maybe i rented it, but i quite enjoyed it. got one of the R1's and the R3, though haven't seen it again since, but glad i have it with the other 2.

Also worth pointing out, the R3 release contains a brief thing involving Evil-Ash pulling the shirt off of the girl which Raimi had chosen to cut even from the "director's cut" ... so it's not, technically, the same cut, and if it were to be released in R1, that shot would probably be cut, since Raimi apparently doesn't like it very much.

How does the R3 cut compare to the version that the Sci-Fi channel shows?

I'm not sure what the Sci-Fi channel shows...but the R3 is the Director's Cut with 15 minutes of additional footage compared to the Theatrical, also has Guam mentioned, he features the bit that is NOT in the R1 DC of Evil Ash pulling the shirt off the Sheila.
