Michael Haneke's TIME OF THE WOLF (Le Temps du loup) comes to R1
Michael Haneke's latest effort TIME OF THE WOLF finally comes to R1 land.
For those with a short memory M. Haneke directed the winner at Cannes 2001 La Pianiste. As well as a number of other important films -Code Unknown, Funny Games, etc.
Street date: December 14.
Extras to be confirmed.
The film has been available in R2 land (UK, France, etc) for quite some time now.

I really liked this film when I saw it on its theatrical release; it has a couple of genuinely shocking moments, and has a very threatening atmosphere. Definitely recommended for fans of Haneke/European cinema.

Great film.
I implore people who like films that ask questions and don't mind subtitles to get this.
I watched Benny's Video last night and it's lost none of it's strength.
Haneke is the greatest European film-maker (at least, the best one still making films) for me. This is his first film that has true hope in it.
I don't like that font on the above DVD poster very much. Makes it look like some shit space TV series.
I hope NBC-Universal do as good a job as the UK DVD.

First of all, thanks for the links Daniel Windsor. I don't own a lot of dvd's but Artificial Eye's U.K disc is one of them. Really enjoyed the behind-the-scenes at Cannes doc.
What about Haneke's earlier films, are they available anywhere?

La Pianiste- avoid the non-16/9 R1 edition. Go for either this one (R4)
http://www.ezydvd.com.au/item.zml/225340
or the UK disc (see amazon.uk)

Funny Games is also available but as a rather poor version of the film...

Code Unknown- avoid the dreadful R1 (non-16/9 version). Go for either the French MK2
http://www.dvdfr.com/dvd/dvd.php?id=7435
or the very smilar UK R2

Excellent post, Pro B
Funny Games is also available in the USA and it's cheap and Region 0.
For me, quality image does not mean much when watching a Haneke film. You'll soon forget about all that sort of stuff when he kicks you in the head.
The UK discs of Code inconnu and La Pianiste are very nice.
La Pianiste is on special at the moment at www.blahdvd.com for £7.99. It is out of stock but they will supply it.

Thanks to both of you guys (Pro-Bassoonist/Daniel Windsor) for providing specific info regarding the best versions available.
However, I was more specifically talking about his earlier films like The Seventh Heaven, Benny's Video and 71 Fragments of a Chronology of Chance. Any info on these will be great. French/Italian audio or subs is also okay. Thanks.

The only info that I have is that Benny's Video is available on a Greek DVD (sadly I dont know who the distributor is). In fact I tried to locate it but with no success.

Excellent film!!! Apocalyptic dark despair and so on and so forth... - 9/10
On the other hand I think La Pianiste and Code Unknown are a step better...

Never knew Benny's Video was out in Greece!
Can't find it unfortunately. Most of the sites I've found are very poorly made. Did find www.lasercorner.com but no sign of it.
Anyone know any other Greek sites?
My DVD of the film is from PAL VHS (taken off a satellite film channel). Not great but good enough for now.

Yes...the dvd supposedly has a green cover. Spent timelsee hours this summer (while I was looking for BEFORE THE RAIN) looking for it and could not find a single place that has it. On a side note as you point out Greek online stores (or at least what I have been researching) are just a mess.
