Fangorial Blood Drive 2 - Seeking Submissions

FYI:

FANGORIA BLOOD DRIVE 2
Kicks-Off Halloween 2004

Aspiring Filmmakers Across America Provided Overwhelming Response to the FIRST Search for Horror’s Next Star Directors

New York, NY (October 27, 2004) ?Aspiring horror filmmakers around the nation have the opportunity to once again compete for the title of Palm d’Gore in the second spine-tingling Fangoria Blood Drive contest. Koch Vision and the Starlog Group, publisher of Fangoria Magazine, the world’s most popular horror publication for over 25 years, joined forces last Fall to invite aspiring American horror filmmakers to submit original short-form genre films. This year, all ages and levels of expertise are once again invited to enter, beginning on the most terrifying of nights, Halloween, October 31st at 12 a.m. Submissions will be accepted until midnight, April 15, 2005. The rules, entry form and information are available by going to the website, www.fangoriablooddrive.com. Entry form can also be received via regular mail by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to Fangoria Blood Drive II, P.O. Box 1290, Post Washington, NY 11050.Winners will be announced on Friday the 13th of May, 2005.

"The Fango staff is thrilled to be involved with BLOOD DRIVE 2," says Tony Timpone, FANGORIA editor and BLOOD DRIVE co-creator (with Tim Hinsley). "The first volume turned out better-and sold better!-than we ever expected. The level of talent, ingenuity and craftsmanship exhibited by Fango's dedicated fan base was bloody impressive. Best of all, many of Volume One's winners, encouraged by the support we provided, have graduated to more ambitious shorts, feature films and documentaries. With a longer submission deadline, we expect the quality of the winners on VOLUME 2 to be even stronger."

Last year’s Fangoria Blood Drive was a phenomenal success with an array of blood-curdling and hair-raising films. Last June, Koch Vision showcased the seven winning films in a worldwide DVD release, Fangoria Blood Drive: America’s Best Short Horror Films, which was hosted by famed musician and horror-film auteur Rob Zombie. The contest is based on originality, creativity, technical quality, story content and commerciality in the horror genre. All films must be less than 13 minutes to qualify.

Blood Drive co-creator and producer Tim Hinsley states, "We were overwhelmed by the quality of films we received for Blood Drive last year. Fangoria and Koch are very excited that we get the chance to once again showcase up and coming filmmakers to the entire world."

The winners will once again be included in a DVD compilation FANGORIA BLOOD DRIVE II, to be released by Koch Vision in the fall of 2005. The DVD will once again include major names from the genre world, as well as a few surprises. The winners’ names will be mentioned on the Fangoria Blood Drive website and in Fangoria Magazine. Winners will also be invited to attend the "Fangoria Convention", where fellow horror fans will view their films for the first time. The company’s national fan conventions, the Fangoria Weekend of Horrors events, have played host to such celebrity guests and genre legends as Jack Nicholson, Kenneth Branagh, Quentin Tarantino, Wes Craven, Peter Jackson, David Cronenberg, KISS’ Gene Simmons, Sam Raimi, John Carpenter, George Romero, Clive Barker, Robert Englund, Rob Zombie, William Friedkin, Robert Rodriguez, Bruce Campbell, Christopher Lee and many more.

Me and a few friends were working on a horror movie... until our star (and owner of the Canon XL1s) took off for film school in Seattle. He's doing very well and plans on coming back down this way.

Hopefully we'll have something to submit for Blood Drive 3
