Yeah, I know, Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat - Annihilation are not that great of movies but I am a big fan of the franchise. Do you think either one of these, mainly the first, will get reissued on DVD?

These two movies were one of the first DVD's released back in the day if I am not mistaken and are not enhanced for widescreen tv's. The first seems pretty popular on the dvd tracker sites so obviously there is still a big fan base. What do you guys think?

I would love to see it released, with the DTS soundtrack from the LD and 16x9 enhanced. There have been rumors of another movie possibly, and maybe that might bring forth a newer release of the DVD.

Yup, best bet would be something to tie in with the new movie.

Can you imagine that background music playing in DTS. :)

Yeah, I see that Mortal Kombat: Devastation is possibly in pre-production so if it were going to happen it would probably be tied in with that. If they do, I hope they release it when Devastation is in theaters and not when it hits DVD because I can't wait that long :) Thanks for your replys.

I'd love to get a SE of Mortal Kombat. I thought the first one was pretty fun and entertaining. Not so much the 2nd one though

part 2 was awful, but part one would be great and especially uncut, or with deleted scenes, hopefully we can get the shang tsung line "you can't run from me shang" ("I DON"T NEED TO RUN") that line is the main line in the trailer, nowhere to be seen in the movie.......sigh

Well I have the Spanish set, anamprhic versions of both films on the same dvd, but only 2.0 sound and not the best picture, but it has extras too, still I will upgrade when a new one comes out somewhere, soon? please.

Actually Mortal Kombat Annihilation is enhanced for widescreen TV. Just the first one is not. :(

The first one sort of reminds me of Enter the Dragon.

The first Mortal Kombat movie was pretty damn good. Although the only thing that gives me a bad tingle in the back of my mind is the fact that it's a movie based on a video which really leaves the movie behind in the past never to become a great action fighting movie classic of its time. It's a movie that's just a staple on a timeline, that's destined to stay right where it is in the past, now becoming more of a good view for nostalgia reasons. And as far as the re-issue of the first film, who knows? New Line cinema isn't involved in the third film, the company who has the rights to Mortal Kombat has waited for New Line Cinemas contract to run out for the movies, so they could make a third movie the RIGHT way. So this third movie very well could end up being great. New Line Cinema would have to release the first Mortal Kombat film on their own accord to DVD I would think.... they can either say 'screw the mortal kombat franchise' and be sour, or they can release a special edition of the movie to cash in on the new movie when it comes out. The shortest answers after all that rambling to dumb it down is I guess, 'only time will tell'.
