The Grudge or Saw: what should I see this weekend?

Okay, since it is Halloween weekend, I intend to spend a lot of time watching horror movies. I was thinking of interrupting my schedule to take in a current one, and the two in the thread title are the ones currently in release. However, they both have less than favorable reviews at this time and I am wondering if I should just stick to the horror movies I know that I like.

I'll post a quick poll for some input!

If you see it with a good crowd, Grudge cant be beat, Saw is more of a thriller than anything else, dont be fooled by ads comparing it to Seven and Lambs, it is nowhere near the league of those. Grudge isnt high art but it is an effective haunted house movie.

The Thing (John Carpenter's version)
The Serpent and the Rainbow
An American Werewolf in London
Alien-if you can count that as horror and not sci-fi

Hope I've given them in enough time!

Okay, I now have a sufficient alcohol buzz and have decided on Grudge. Hopefully it will be more entertaining with a wee bit of intoxication.

Saw Grudge. Somewhat entertaining, but mostly because I saw it with a crowd full of young women wanting to scream at the drop of a pin. In fact, the only legit scare I got was when a girl a couple of rows behind me shrieked bloody murder at one of the "boo" sequences. I admit that there were a few jumps, but geeez!!! Kids today don't know true movie horror.

While I can totally see someone liking Saw more than Grudge, I cant see anyone actually being scared in SAW, its more about the grisly situations the characters are in. I liked SAW, but it wasted Glover and had one of the worst (or can it be best?) scenes of cop stupidity on film.

SAW sucks, in my opinion. Bad acting, not scary, quite boring, but good ending. That's my summarized review.

I was looking for a crowd into whatever movie we were watching, so I think Grudge was better for that purpose. However, it seems that Saw might offer more in terms of mind terror and suspense.
