I didn't see this previously discussed via a search so what are some of your favorites/recommendations?

And because someone likely will.. excluding silent movies. :)

Do you mean 'the main language is one other than English' or do you mean 'something not made in the United Kingdom'?

Main language is not English.

Welcome Back, Mr. McDonald (Japanese)
Fudoh (Japanese, more an action movie but had one of the biggest laughs of any movies I've ever seen, same with Versus)
The Quiet Family (Korean)
Amelie (French)
Delicatessen (French)
My Sassy Girl (Korean)
My Wife is a Gangster (Korean)
Shaolin Soccer, God of Cookery, numerous movies with Stephen Chow (Cantonese)

The last 30 minutes of House of Flying Daggers...

These are all really current, sorry my knowledge base doesn't go very far back.

Hi. I'm new here, and these are pretty mainstream for foreign films, but here goes anyway. Hope it's okay.

Bread and Tulips (Pane e Tulipani) Italy
Ginger and Cinnamon (Dillo con parole mie) Italy
Le Fate Ignoranti (His Secret Life) Italy
Mostly Martha (Germany)

If a mod could add the word "language" to the thread title it would be appreciated.

Enjoying the suggestions so please keep them coming. I'm using them to come up with a rental list.

Are there any standouts from the following two links?

Movielens search (http://movielens.umn.edu/search?searchPhrase=&action=newSearch&hiddenParam=1&genre=Comedy&date=All&domain=Foreign&genreSearch=Search+Genre%2FDate%21)

Netflix search (http://www.netflix.com/SubGenre?sgid=663&idx=0&#list)

I'd nominate "Winners & Sinners" (HK) or the first few "Lucky Stars" movies.

Richard Ng = da bomb.

Most of the "La India Maria" movies are pretty funny. Not sure if any are subbed.

Same for most Cantinflas stuff. I know MGM has a couple of his movies on DVD with english subs.

Stephen Chow is pretty awesome too. Most of his films are on VCD with english subs.
