Last night after the baseball game, I started a thread about the Red Sox. Needless to say the thread was closed probably due to high number of previous Red Sox threads. My problem was that the thread title was changed from "Bosox fans" to "Botox fans". Although funny, its not right for anyone to change what Ive written. On two different occasions Ive heard of peoples thread titles or posts being involuntarily changed, often to add humor. I feel this is inappropiate to misrepresent someone because our words are basically all we have on a forum. Call it what you want but I think thats wrong. :(

It's humor, and while there are some rules some us thing are stupid, I'm sure... I don't think many mind this.

I feel you gmal. I remember this certain post that I may or may not have posted incorrectly in the Election Forum. Since I can't fully remember, I'll take the blame for posting incorrectly (but sometimes I wonder).
However, after it was moved the mods changed the subject line, it was moved again to the Book Forum. I just deleted it.

He does have a point though.
Recently someone changed:
Bjork to perform on Letterman
to
Bjork to perform surgery on Letterman
Necessary? No. Funny? No.
I personally like thread title changes when they are a) funny and b) used sparingly. Too much of a good thing can make it stale. And like gmal2003 said, all that we have here is what we write. That being said, bfrank said it best: report to a mod and ask them to change it back. Easy enough.
BTW, mods, nice title change!

I know its usually just fun and games. I wasn't even mildly mad at the particular "Botox" thing, but I just wouldn't want to see my words get twisted around. I realize that the mods would probably not twist around one's thoughts outside of the light humor context but I just wanted to speak my peace. I wouldn't want to see an interesting or weird post/thread title and have to debate whether its the actual person who wrote this or a joke. Anywho, it was just what was on my mind at the time so I shared it with you all.

Ive heard of penis envy, but not Pistons envy.
Ahhhhhh, its good to be champs and beat chumps.
O yea, Kobe blows and his new team team strikingly resembles a slightly better version of the 2003-4 Orlando Magic. Hope you guys make the playoffs this year (I can think of at least 9 other Western teams who'll probably have better records). See you in the Finals, o yeah..... NO I WON'T. Soften up Sacremento, Minnesota, San Antonio, and the other good Western Conference teams for us before we meet them in the Finals.

Pistons are a fluke and that will be proven this year.
Sorry to hurt the feelings of LakerFan. Us going to the Finals seems more likely than LA making the playoffs. Thats kinda sad. I have no problem being a fluke (which we arent) as long as it meant beating the team that swept us the year before. Beating the team with the best record in the NBA along with our former coach and breaking up the "4 Hall of Famers" dynasty. We've been building something special here for years.Adding a healthy McDyess (who has looked like his old self in the preseason) and Derrick Coleman makes already rough front line scary.

The Piston's did no such thing, as the Lakers were never a "4 Hall of Famer dynasty". Perhaps a "2 Hall of Famer" dynasty, but even thats debatable as 3 years in a row is certainly not a dynasty to me.

I agree. Now I know how Laker haters felt when year after year the Lakers were picked to head to the finals, and/or win it all. Everyone at ESPN is saying Pistons over Spurs/Wolves in the Finals. You win one title and the world is your oyster ;)
Actually, check that....when the Lakers won the title in 2000, the Spurs were favored I think. Then in 2001, the Blazers favored. Then in 2002, the Spurs again.

Im moreso ribbin/jokin than anything else. I realize that the road to the Finals is goin to be even harder this year with Shaq in the East. If Minnesota/San Antonio stays healthy they will be very hard to beat. But after years of cockiness and attitude by the Lakers its good to see the tables turn. Be that as it may, I never whined or cried when they (LA) had their great run. I didnt like them, but there rings and trophies were an automatic win in any debate about basketball. It wasnt the number of rings that matter tho as much as the fact that they were the CURRENT champs. The champs should have nothing less than an ego as they are the best team in basketball until their is another champ crowned.

Although 3 NBA rings in a row is not a dynasty to you. The court of public oppinion would disagree. After their 3rd straight, the majority of the media and NBA fans coined them a dynasty. The team Detroit beat consisted of 4 Hall of famers (Shaq, Payton, Malone, Bean) including the 2 that brought them to dynasty status.

I think his point was that although Malone/Payton are going to the HOF they are not at that level anymore.

Be that as it may, their notarity as HOF players still remained. Not to mention they both took pay cuts to join the team for the sole reason of winning the title, a title which alluded them and their great careers. They figured (as did many) it was a near lock to win it. The only pieces missing in the LA arsenal was a better PG and esp. a complimentary PF.Ironically, the Pistons tried to sign Malone but failed as he wanted to be on a team with a better chance at winning the ring :lol:Considering those facts, my satisfaction level couldnt have been higher by beating any other team.

Actually that wasnt my point  But that is also true. Both of them didnt even play most of the time. Hardly something to brag about breaking up.
I assumed it was pretty cut and dry to what I said. First of all there were not 4 hall of famers when the Lakers won their 3 titles in a row. There were only 2 (Shaq & Kobe), hence it makes no sense to call them the "4 Hall of Famers" dynasty. Hell Malone and Payton came aboard when the Lakers weren't winning any titles. Again makes no sense.
