POLL: Will you be purchasing Metal Gear Solid 3?

Sorry, I just couldn't let this go. The other thread on which game you would buy if you could only have one didn't even list MGS 3.

Soooo, I just wanna see how many MGS fans there are out there. I'd like to know if there are others on this site that are as excited about this game as I am.

ROCK THE VOTE!

Exactly, if I am playing a video game, I expect to actually play a game.

Not right away, I have to play through MGS2 first. I loved the first MGS, just haven't got around to picking up the second one yet.

Oh course I am, it will be one of the top games of the year.

Some people just don't get the Japanese style of gaming where the game has a deep story to it. That is what games like MGS and FF bring that lack in American games. If you can't appreciate that, sucks for you.

Being a huge MGS fan, I was really excited about it, until I learned about the camouflage system. Having to constantly change seems kinda of annoying to me, I'm just going to wait and see how it turns out.

I will wait til its cheap, I still haven't played number 2 and if it has as many movies as people say, I may pass.

But since you added a thread for MGS3 am I going to have to add one for PoP2, R&C 3, KOTOR 2 etc?

Hell yeah! I'm a big MGS fan (although part 2 was somewhat of a huge let down). While I am a little concerned, I beleive that Hideo Kojima learned his lesson.

And for those of you who are curious, check out the latest PSM with MGS3 on the cover. It is even playable on the demo. Camoflauge and the whole concept of capturing/eating seems like it will be a lot of fun.

Now for those who love MGS, here's another question: who will be buying the McFarlane figures? I know I will.

I'm going to buy it. I loved the one on the PSX and even though Metal Gear Solid 2 was a bit of a let down, gameplay wise, I thought the game was awesome. I just didn't like Raiden, the plot was a bit too confusing, and the bad guys and levels were just boring. The internal mechanics of the game, how you played it, were outstanding.

Hopefully, MGS3 will be able to combine the kick-ass plot and bad guys from the first one, with the great gameplay of the second one.

It's interesting that you say that you're a Metal Gear SOLID fan. You're right, the second game was a huge letdown, i mean seriously Kojima better not pull any crazy shit on us this time like not letting us play as Solid Snake or replacing the main character (which totally changed the gameplay, remember...) or trying to go do anything high-concept or daring, cuz that would totally suck.

Anyway, as a Metal Gear fan, i'm really looking forward to it. I've enjoyed the Solid series thus far, you watch more than you play but it's still a great experience.

I voted 'stupid'.

My first exposure to MGS was Sons of Liberty. Even though the plot got a little goofy, I liked it and couldn't understand why people ragged on it so much.

Based on that, I bought the remake of the first game (for the Cube). Not bad, but the dialog really started to wear thin with this one. I started to tune out when I had to listen to the cornball speeches about a warrior, the battlefield, etc.

I couldn't make it through the MGS3 demo. I just can't take any more dorky diatribes about the inner struggle a warrior faces when the battlefield is his only friend. Ugh. Save it for Dr. Phil.

A common complaint is that the MGS series is too much movie and not enough gameplay. That wouldn't bother me so much if the movie plot wasn't so bad.

NOPE!!! Don't like the idea of changing my shorts every time I visit a new background. Sounds more like a cross between GIjoe and Barbie. I'll wait for SC Chaos Theory.

No.
I don't like the Metal Gear games very much.Played the demo a bit and to me it was just like the first one. They look very nice, but IMO the game play is not good, too many interruptions and the controls are not very intuitive. for stealth give me Splinter Cell .

I say Solid because I didin't play the Metal Gear series on the NES. I don't really know why; I just overlooked them at the time.

I can understand why some people don't like or enjoy the series. It is preachy at times (some may call this an understatement) and MGS2 did have little gameplay compared to the overabundance of cinemas in the game.

But I really love the characters and the gameplay .

I dunno - the jungle theme/environments seem really repetative and kinda boring - is that really all there is to this game?
