Considering that nothing official has been announced (at least I think) and we're talking about Tarantino here, I would think we'll be lucky to see them sometime next year let alone by Christmas.

Well, aparently Tarantino is going to edit the two films into one, release that into theaters, then sometime afterwards that release the box set.

pretty much at the quickest, next summer. But with QT's slowness I wouldn't expect anything soon. there will be a limited theater release so that will hold up the time for it to get to DVD.

So many rumors on this that I finally just bought the current version when Kill Bill 2 came out.

Nothing has been announced, and I can almost guarantee that there will be no SE of any type released this year. We all know the pace that Tarantino works at, and the way he plans things and then changes his mind, so who knows when a SE will finally happen. If you liked the films, just buy the DVDs (perhaps previously viewed to save money) and you can always sell them when something better is announced.

After hearing you guys talk about future SE's, I'm so glad I caved and bought the 2 at BB.

I'll stick to my two Kill Bill Premium Box Sets from Japan for now. The second one supposedly has about a minute or so of extra footage (nothing major), but the first one has more scenes added back in (just do a search to find out what ones they are).

Glad i got mine as well. Of course for many, its the principle of the double dip, regardless of how long they take

I just want to wait to see the films as they were intentionally designed.

some could argue that in it's development, it might have been intentionally designed to be a two parter. Well at the very least if you want to have everything that you saw on screen without anything being cut out, then yeah the vol 1 and vol 2 thing could be argued about to some degree.

QT is very shifty and I wouldn't doubt that the thought crossed his mind to split it up before production started.

Do you think the eventual SE will include all the footage from Vol. 1 and 2, or will it consist of an edit? That could make a big difference as to whether to get the current versions or the SE.

Kill Bill 2 had extra footage? I thought it was the same version everywhere.

After catching part one on cable recently, I'm convinced that Tarantino definitely designed it that way, was gonna relent, but then realized it'd be a much, much better movie as two parts.

The best reason I have is
Spoiler:
the fact that Uma kills nobody other than Bill in Part 2. I think that's a great choice Tarantino made, but it would make much less sense to have half a movie where Uma kills a hundred people followed by half a movie building to her killing one.
But, of course, that's speculation.

I personally think it works better divided; I think each part is like 60-75% of a movie, so together, it's too much movie.

I heard it's just some more talking in the Esteban scene.

Just more scenes of the Mexican whores, no extra Esteban dialog. Screencaps in the other thread. The R2 also has three Japanese teasers/trailers.

That's not true, she kills Madsen's character, and pretty much kills Darryl Hannah's character as well.

That's not true.

Spoiler:
Elle kills Budd with the snake. And Elle seems very much alive at the end. Just blind.
