Jean Reno's SHUT UP ....perhaps with subs.

English speakers might get lucky after all seeing Jean Reno's latest comedy Tais Toi (SHUT UP).

Since the film came out without subs in both France and Canada the Korean version appears to be the only option for those that need them (or so DVDAsian is indicating).

Original French cover-

I would assume that the Korean disc is a direct copy of the French one but with subs.

Considering how superb Reno and Depardieu are, this might really be a hoot. Have you seen it, Pro-B?

Also wondering how it is. Not sure how Reno would be in a comedy, but Depardieu can be very funny.

I picked up the French disc since I adore Reno. Thought that the film was quite good (for the record I DISLIKE comedies) but not a "keeper".

Some interesting facts- Depardieu lost A LOT of weight for this film. Furthermore, take a good look at the prison scene, esp the close-up shots, I think that age is finally catching up with him.

As to Reno being in a comedy...well, that is his forte so to speak. Bottom line I give this film and think that those that enjoyed the Taxi trilogy will most definitely like the Depardieu/Reno duo here. Or so I think...

* I would rent the Korean disc if it has subs. So, lets see...

Cheers,
Pro-B

ps
Mark, If you decide picking up this disc you might want to pick this one as well...

...R2 (France), comes with subs. Teams up Reno with Clavier.

Cheers,
Pro-B

a quick update:

as with 99.99% of all French films released in Korea SHUT UP is indeed a direct copy of the French disc hence NO SUBS (disregard DVDASIAN's preliminary info).

Hopefully, the R1 fans will get a release early next year.

Film has its moments but is certainly not up to par with "Le Diner de Cons" and "Le Placard" from the same director. It's worth it for Depardieu's performance.
