Christian Music that doesn't suck.
Yes, I believe there is some. Just got introduced to it because of Sirius. Anyway, here is what I have found. Let me know if you have heard these or if you know of similar stuff.
The Fragile Breath by Todd Agnew
If We Are The Body by Casting Crowns
I Believe by Third Day
Sing a Song by Third Day
Never Alone by Barlow Girl
Who am I by Casting Crowns
Right Here by Jeremy Camp
Blessed Be Your Name by Tree63
Show You Love Jars of Clay
I have never been a big fan of Christian music, but this is some good stuff. Anyone have some favs they want to share?

Whatever band covered Where The Streets Have No Name - it gets played all the time on "The Fish", the local Christian station. It doesn't trump U2 at all, but hey, it's a nice song.

I kind of stopped listening to CCM, but I'll tell you one recording that is awesome:
Christine Glass "Love and Poverty"
It's 5 years old and can probably be bought for $2.00 on Ebay.
Very catchy guitar rock. She's married to the lead singer of Common Children and there is a similar, but poppier, sound on this one.

i've listened to Christian music for years now. While I think the industry as a whole has gone downhill the last couple of years, there are still some great bands out there. Just about everyone has the idea that Christian bands are crap (and truth is, some are...but that's the same as mainstream music) and sing hymns and church songs and can only rhyme "love" with "above". I love it when people with that attitude actually find out that there are some really good bands in the Christian scene.
Anyway, here's an earlier thread discussing some of the better Christian bands and CDs. Enjoy!

Christian hip-hop has come a long way in that it's actually good now. The fact that secular artists (Murs, Rob Swift, the Beat Junkies, Abstract Rude, etc.) are guesting on their albums is starting to lend the genre some legitimacy in the hip-hop community.
A lot of the artists are really subtle with their Christianity; they don't bombard you with Bible verses or use "Jesus" in every other line.
There's some great stuff out there: Pigeon John, Flynn, Sharlock Poems, Joey the Jerk, B Twice - all of which are current/former members of the L.A. Symphony crew; Braille, Freddie Bruno, 4th Avenue Jones, Mars Ill, Tunnel Rats, BK, Grits, LMNO, etc.

Just in case anyone is interested in thrash metal, check out the band Tourniquet. Some of the coolest stuff I've heard, secular or Christian, since the '80s and they normally get rave reviews from the metal press. I only wish I'd discovered them earlier.

Trouble - Old school metal band. Sort of like U2, in that they're Christians, but aren't a part of the Christian music scene, and are on the regular labels. Around '88 or '89 they signed onto Def American (Slayer and Danzig's label, btw) and put out a really excellent self-titled album. It's unfortunately out of print...
I also remember a few years ago, a female friend of mine was listening to Considering Lily... a female Christian group. They sounded sort of Julianna Hatfieldish, and I sort of liked them.
And, of course, the all-time classic...

Can't believe nobody's thrown this quote up on here yet.
"You people aren't making Christian music better, you're making rock music worse!" - Hank Hill, KING OF THE HILL

I still like Third Day, but it is on a song by song basis.
Why don't you guys give me some songs to check out instead of just bands. I hat 80% of everything a band puts out, but love one or two hits. So what are the hits of these bands.

I used to also listen to another 80's christian thrash band called The Crucified, lyrics were kind of silly, but some good heavy riffage.
I love Sixpence None the Richer too, RIP.
