Don't underestimate the PS2 owner base compared to the number of X-Box owners.

True! But you have to factor in the amount of kids that own the PS2. As funny has this sounds...parents I think would let kids play Halo2 rather than GTA. GTA has a bad rep with with moms

I think Halo 2 will sell more. The GTA game will be fun, but the concept is getting old.

GTA. Bigger series among casual gamers, MUCH larger installed base of PS2s.

But like what warcp said, there are more PS2 owners than Xbox owners.....yet I feel most people that own the Xbox, own it due to the first halo...so I think we'll see a close ratio of Xbox owners and Halo2 owners.

GTA for what Josh said. GTA is more known and draws more attention.

Tough call.. GTA is known and loved for its concept. Halo is known and loved for its gameplay. I'm sure GTA will blow Halo 2 out of the water in numbers, it simply has more mainstream appeal. I'm sure every MTV employee is getting a copy so they can proclaim how excellent it is (in their own, sincere form of broken English) therefore garnering more sales from all kids that think they won't be cool without it.

Yeah, I forgot GTA is a Thuglife game this time. They will probably sell a million copies of it to Hip Hop artists alone. Halo 2 will be huge, but in the long run it probably can't compete with the large number of PS2 consoles out there.

Pretty much everyone that owns a PS2 will buy GTA:SA and everyone that owns an X-Box will buy Halo 2, so therefore GTA will sell better.

I think a more interesting question would be will San Andreas reach Vice City's numbers? I've always had an odd feeling that the series probably peaked at Vice City in presence, popularity and the overall game experience. I could be wrong, and I'd be no surprised either direction it takes, but with how big Vice City got to be in the general media, I don't see it repeating that.

GTA might sell more copies, but I think a larger percentage of XBox users will buy Halo 2 compared to the percentage of PS2 owners that will buy GTA. I own both systems and I'm buying Halo 2, but not GTA.

GTA. There's a lot more PS2 owners than Xbox owners.

But they'll both sell like gangbusters.

This is my feeling on the game. Yes, I'm getting GTA, but I don't have near the excitement I had for Vice City. Every game concept gets old after awhile and SA is still the same basic game with a bigger map and a few new goodies thrown in. Not sure how much longer they can keep the interest going without a major revamping of the game.

Don't just throw out a comment like that without providing any reasoning. You just come off sounding like a smarmy bastard. Talk man! Tell me why you think that's incorrect. If I'm not mistaken, the X-Box is vastly underselling the PS2, so therefore if a smaller percentage of PS2 users got the game, it still might account for a larger number than a greater percentage of X-Box owners buying Halo 2.
What in my post is incorrect? That most PS2 owners will get GTA:SA, that most X-Box owners will buy Halo 2, or that GTA will outsell Halo 2?

It will sit on the shelf next to that revered copy of Scarface. .

True the hip hop community will eat GTA:SA up but last time I checked the majority of people that listen to and revere hip hop were white, middle-class, suburban kids.

(The slight racial tone I've read in a couple of different threads today is bugging me. Don't know if I'm being overly sensitive or if people on this board are being ignorant. Might be a combination of both)

More in the mature game thread. Maybe not so much in this thread but after reading that other thread I think I became more conscious of racial comments. I'm not african-american by the way, but that shouldn't matter.

I wasn't making a racial slur, but if you have seen the Scarface documentary you know how popular stuff like this is among the rap artists. I know full well how popular Hip Hop music is with all young people of every race. It was even hugely popular in my mostly hispanic neighborhood in the late 80's early 90's. I pretty much grew up with hip hop in the same time period as the game.
