Forbidden Planet SE 12/31/2005???

Wasn't this dvd supposed to come out August? Well now it's October and i am still waiting for this and then i find it here which sounds like utter ridiculousness and i hope that 2005 is really a typo for 2004.

I doubt it's either. Dec. 31, 2004 is a Friday and Dec. 31, 2005 is a Saturday.

When a site lists Dec. 31 as the release date, it usually means that the disc is scheduled to be released sometime during that year, but no specific date has been set.

I was wondering when this would come out. A really exceptional film. I hope they do an exceptional job with it.

Yup. They're using the same date for other DVDs that are coming, but haven't had dates announced yet, like season sets of Roseanne and Family Ties, as well as this:

101 Dalmatians (Fall 2009) (Buena Vista) ( 12/31/2005 )

Does anyone have any details on the film? Will there be extras? What's the SE stand for?

Thanks again for the info!

I hope it isn't Sucky Extras.

Actually, I hadn't even heard this rumored, so I know nothing about it. There are definitely some deleted scenes lying around -- they were on the Criterion laserdisc, along with some production sketches, storyboards, and other goodies.

If they took that stuff and also stuck on a decent documentary, I'd be pretty happy.

The Adventures of Robin Hood Special Edition was a real treat, so many great extras including all sorts of classic cinema that i hope Forbidden Planet gets the same treatment.

Any more news on the ETA for this one?

This is one of my all time favorite movies. I would love to get it with some great extras!

Did anyone get a copy of the 50th Anniversary 2-disc edition of Forbidden Planet, that did NOT have the plastic seal wrapper glued stuck to the box spine?

I sent mine back, and received another one that was just the same. Doesn't look very nice on the shelf. Pretty annoying. And since it is a special two-disc box it seems impossible to find another to replace it with.
