CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina (Ticker) - University of North Carolina football players Adarius Bowman, Fred Sparkman and <B>Isaiah Thomas</B> have been suspended indefinitely from all team activities after being <B>cited for marijuana possession</B>, the school announced Monday.
The three sophomores were cited late Sunday night, one day after the Tar Heels upset then-No. 25 North Carolina State, 30-24.
Bowman is a wide receiver, Sparkman a linebacker and Thomas a defensive tackle from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Bowman has a team-high three receiving touchdowns while Sparkman leads the school with 61 tackles - 23 more than any other player.
"I can't remember a time when I was more disappointed," Tar Heels coach John Bunting said. "The last thing we need after an exciting win like we had Saturday evening was an off-the-field situation that would embarrass the university and this football program.
