24 2nd season finale question

Spoilers if you couldn't tell from the title.

In the end of season 2, there was still at least 3 people in on the nuke plot that hadn't been caught. The guy on the boat, the one eating lunch and the girl. In the final scene, the girl covers her hand in plastic and shakes Palmer's hand, which begins to be eaten away by acid.

Now the question. Were the writer's planning to do something about this but then discarded it when it came to season 3? I don't remember seeing Palmer's hand messed up and they never mentioned these guys again. Anyone know the answer.

Well, I don't keep all the plot points of 24 real straight, but they did address Palmer and his recovery. They even showed what it did to his hand a couple times, IIRC.

Over three years passed between seasons two and three. I believe that it was mentioned that those involved in the plot were captured. Someone mentions it at some point early on in season 3.

I suspect that while season 2 was being written, they planned on season 3 picking up where it left off. That plan was eventually scrapped over creative differences, I imagine.

Plus, wasn't Jack clinically dead in Season2, at least once?! Give the guy some time to recover, so he can kick some more ass in Season3!
