Well, it looks like I'm officially going to have to eat my words on LA here....I figured that St.Louis would blow them out with homers in one or two games, and that LA would win three close ones with Gagne and their own offense (Green, Finley, Bradley and Beltre) all helping out. So far, LA has proved to be an incredible pushover.
Honestly, I figured St.Louis would come out fat and lazy, especially after clinching so early and getting bitch-slapped by inferior teams at the end of the season, in addition to blatantly rolling over for Houston in one of their last series. They didn't look ready to me, but I suppose they are.

Al Leiter, who is going to be in the Fox booth, was on Dan Patrick, and while he wasn't sure, he said that Buck and McCarver will be calling the ALCS only if it's Yankees/Sox. Otherwise, they will probably be with St. Louis. Found that odd.

Yeah, sorry about Washburn. I guess I get bringing him in for the lefty/lefty match-up, but that pitch was grooved as badly as Vlad's from Timlin, but slower. Rodriguez wasn't laboring at all, and was pretty much schooling the Boston hitters. That was a hell of a boo-boo by Scioscia.

The recent Yanks won those WS's without strong a offense lineup. Look at the last few years Yankee team. Better offense but can't win the big one. Got their butts shut down by the Marlins last year.

Mmmmm. I think the biggest difference between the Yankees of the last 3 years, and the championship winning teams is the batters. The newer Yankees will trade strikeouts for homeruns (Giambi, Soriano, etc.). The old Yankees had a lot more tough outs (O'Neil, Brosius, Knoblach) who would work the pitch counts in their favor and increase their chances of getting big hits.

normally.. we always go to the games with him..
but he said if they make the nlcs.. he has suite tickets for me.. and if they make the world series.. he would most likely have another set for us...
