Carlos Beltran is uncertain for today's Hou/Atl game after being hit by a pitch in the ribs. It was a 94 MPH fastball...ouch. X-Rays were negative.
Chipper Jones is uncertain as well after reaggravating a wrist injury.

This is a bit shocking. If the Dodgers win tonight, I bet Fox will flip-flop and put Yankees-Twins in primetime instead.
Fox picks Cardinals for prime time again
By Dan Caesar
Of the Post-Dispatch
10/07/2004
The Fox network has decided to televise Game 3 of the Cardinals-Los Angeles Dodgers series in prime time Saturday, meaning that two of the first three games in the playoff will be the network's feature game.
Fox (KTVI, Channel 2 locally), previously had decided to carry tonight's Game 2, at 7:09 p.m. from Busch Stadium. Saturday's game, in Los Angeles, is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. (St. Louis time).
A factor was that when the decision was made Wednesday afternoon, the Cards-Dodgers series didn't have the possibility of ending before Saturday, unlike two others. Thus, Fox will be able to promote the telecast this week. There was another factor.
"Having the team with the best record in baseball this season (the Cards) against a terrific team from the second-largest television market is a very attractive match-up to have in prime time," Fox Sports vice president of communications Dan Bell said.
The game will be preceded on Fox by Game 4 of the New York Yankees-Minnesota Twins series, at 3:25 p.m.

That's *exactly* what I felt last night. Jones was somewhere else on that play. Even vintage Vince Coleman on 3rd base is out by a couple feet if Jones is ready to throw home.

[kiss ass announcers]No. Clearly it was the alert baserunning by Jeter who knew exactly when to tag up. EXACTLY WHEN THE OUTFIELDER CATCHES THE BALL![/kiss ass announcers]
Any other player would have tagged before or after the ball was caught. -rolleyes-

Well, the Braves are back to their old post season ways. Braves fans don't even care enough anymore to even invest any effort, because they know it will result in the same thing. Disappointment! Just watch the game, the fans, the players. There is not a lick of enthusiasm or excitement to be seen. None! If you watched the games, they feel like a run of the mill regular season game.

Fucking pathetic. I love this team, but they don't play with any fucking heart during the playoffs. I used to spend a bunch of money and take off from work and go to all the home games, but I haven't in a few years and won't until they earn me back. I don't demand a World Series win, but I do expect some effort and some basic run production with men in scoring position. There's no excuse for us to see the same shit every season.

Just got back from the Braves game. It was brutal for those first 6 innings. The Braves could do nothing with Oswalt's curve ball (there's over 20 mph difference between his curve ball and fast ball), and it had the Braves batters off-balance. Plus the lack of hitting discipline by the Braves gave Oswalt some low pitch count innings.
Hampton didn't pitch badly, as the Astros only managed 4 hits, with the bullpen giving up no hits. The Braves squandered plenty of late inning chances to overcome the 2-run lead, but strange calls from the bench blew some scoring opportunities.
JD Drew was missing badly on his swings. What is up with him?
Couldn't believe Smoltz got a hit, that was great.
My save of the game goes to Furcal's lawyer for keeping out of jail long enough to play in the playoffs.
