Just wondering if anyone picked this up besides me and if so, what do you think of it? I have not had a chance to pop it in yet and probably won't for a few days.

Also, are there any reviews yet besides the little bit on Game Informer?

I played through it on the xbox... probably some of the worst gameplay ever. IGN can't deny they were payed off for that review.

I played all the others over a decade ago and loved them. But I can't imagine playing it today (or anything based loosely on it).

Hell, back then, the prospect of a tiny digitized nipple would actually make you play the whole thing

The reviews have been saying the gameplay is pretty terrible and boring since its all crappy mini-games, although the game in general is very funny. How dissapointing.

is it out for ps2?

I was considering this for the "nostalgia" factor from playing the older games back in the day, but the reviews aren't too favorable, so I'm passing for the moment.

Considering that the gameplay is nothing like the originals and Al Lowe's not even involved with the writing, I don't think it's worth it even for that. The reviews make it sound terrible, even the ones like IGN's where they actually give it a decent score.

My friend got it for PS2 and it's great. Very funny, and a blast to play. I'd never played any of the earlier ones.

I played some of it on Xbox I think at E3 and was disappointed and unimpressed. I may pick it up used later just cuz I've played all the other ones, but it's not very high up on my list.

I was hoping that it would be a return to adventure gaming, which I absolutely love. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case, so I'll probably pass on it.

I buy just about all my games but this is one i did choose to get from the net purely because the uncensored version is available and the one you buy is censored

A review I read said you needed to be 16 or younger to enjoy this one. I have always been a fan but am passing.

That sounds about right considering that was about my age when I enjoyed the previous games in the series.

I got the first one for my 15th birthday

Don't go upstairs! She'll give you the clap!

I'll probably check it out when it gets cheap, but I'm in no hurry. I do have the all the old ones, but I only ever actually finished the first one. Maybe I'll try and get past the second one again.

If this had been an adventure game, I would've bought it, since I haven't really played one in a while; as it is, I think I'll pass (at least until I see it for $10 or so).

ok i finished it.. It gets boring pretty quick.. there are approximately 5 mini games that you will play over and over and over again.. There's like 13 women and each one has the same 4 or 5 mini games to finish their part of the story and you have to finish their part. It had some decent comedy but it is definately not the lsl you will remember if you are a fan of the others. It can get excrushiatingly hard. It comes down to hitting buttons quick in a DDR type of fashion and such.(think Parappa the rapper) and at least on the pc version there was quite a bit of slowdown during these making it almost impossible to finish most of the minigames. Overall not horrible but i certainly expected much more and was left disappointed. There's my little review, take it as you will but if you liked the old ones i cannot recommend that you buy this as you will just get disappointed.

oh and the return of adventure gaming is coming though. The original developers of Sam and Max just created their own studio and in their words they are going to reinvent and recussitate the adventure gaming genra. They also said they hope to try to get some of hte old licenses from lucasarts i believe.. at least sam and max.

I will keep my fingers crossed on this. I loved the old PC adventure games.

You can play our free Leisure Suit Larry game here:

I helped come up with the name of the game ("A Leisurely Adventure" was all me, baby). And yes, the dialogue is meant to be intentionally bad. Methinks Mena Crushyernutz is the hottest.

I remember playing the original game on a monochrome laptop. Those were the days.

That's actually more fun than the real LSL game... whether that's a compliment to your game or an insult to the LSL game, I'll leave that up to you guys. :)

I thought the original (lounge lizards, where you spent most of your time gambling for taxi money) was black & white...

Not if you had an EGA monitor which is what the screenshot is. I only had CGA, so I could choose black and white or turquoise, magenta, black and white :yack:

CGA.. ah, the (bad) memories.

our game? you involved in the development of this game?

Alright, been playing Magna Cum Laude for a bit these last two days...

Definitely a dissapointment. The game is pretty repetitive, as you play the same type of games over and over again with every girl you meet, and so far i've talked with about 7 or 8 girls and had to play maybe the same 4 mini games over and over again. Very annoying. The only redeeming part is the dialogue, which is really off beat and funny with some really strange (i.e. vulgar) situations, like a constantly masturbating monkey. The good part is that you can "Wimp Out" of the mini games using these tokens you can find, so i think i'm going to try and speed through to see the story/funny conversations and avoid the lame games.
