Raphael Furcal is going to see the judge today due to him being in violation of his parole due to being arrested for DUI last month. Furcal had 49 days left of probation, so the judge can be lenient (have him do the rest of the days in the joint after the playoffs are over for him) or severe (have him locked up today, missing the playoffs).

....

The judge was a Braves fan:

Furcal to serve 21 days in jail the day after the playoffs are done for the Braves, and then Furcal gets 28 days of in-house arrest.

40,000 tickets are sold for today's Braves/Astros game. That's about 12,000 less than a sell-out.

Nah. If a bar of soap falls at Yankee Stadium, Jeter is always there to pick it up.

I was thinking the same thing.

Plus, in the first inning, Wright just missed with a fastball. Brantley said, "We're gonna see that all day" due to the small strike zone. Wright later caught a corner with a fastball in nearly the same location, and Brantley said, "We're gonna see that all day." Ugh..

I can't even begin to count the errors in management Gardenhire made tonight.

1) You take your most consistant hitter all year (Ford) and leave him on the bench ALL NIGHT.

2) You send Radke, who was clearly struggling, out for the 7th (made doubly worse by the fact that you'll want him to start Game 5).

3) You waste your best power hitter for a pinch runner.

4) You waste your third-string catcher by having him field your first baseman's position (whom you wasted for a pinch runner), forcing you to let Pat Borders hit, despite being hopelessly mismatched.

5) You send your closer out not once, not twice, but three times, for more than 50 pitches. You then refuse to admit that you made a mistake, even when he throws 9 consecutive balls. This decision doesn't just cost you the game, it makes Game 3 that much harder for you to win, as your closer will be unavailable.

There was more than just that. It was almost comical to watch. I couldn't help but ask myself which decision he was going to flub next. All the talk about Gardenhire being a great manager, I just don't believe it. How can you after tonight's game?

welb25
10-06-04, 11:57 PM
I know Ford was 1 for 19 in his last four games against the Yankees(including 0 for 4 last night), which were all in Yankee stadium. I would't think that would enter into it this time of year but maybe it did.
