I too grabbed a widescreen copy out of a Walmart bin last year, but I haven't seen one since. All the new ones are fullscreen-only garbage.

I believe the Last Action Hero/6th Day box set has the widescreen one.

why do they decide to wipe out the WS version? it can't be short-sightedness of simply cutting costs, is it? cuz if they are, they should be pulling the plug on the FS version then.

There is a R2 Japan release that is Superbit so along with a nice clean anamorphic transfer you are also getting DTS sound. If you really like this movie go for that release.

If you check Wal-Mart, you may get lucky. I bought mine only 2 months ago from the dump bin, and it was widescreen.

So true...Every time I walk past the $5.99 rack at Best Buy, I check to see if they have ws. They never do, so I never buy it.

Not so guilty for me. I think it was much better than it got credit for. Not great, but much better. The comedy aspect was better than most Ahnuld flicks.

Speaking of aspect, this is even anamorphic. Try some used stores. You could probably get it for $3.99.

Does the widescreen version have the same cover art as the full screen? What should I look for, please?

Last Action Hero is a flipper, with P&S on one side and anamorphic widescreen on the other. I heard there was a so-called 10th Anniversary Edition that dropped the widescreen side, but I haven't seen any. I think it may have been a direct-to-Walmart release.

Basically, if it says on the back of the case it has widescreen, if it is a 2-sided release, or if it is UPC 43396-27939 it has widescreen. Most on-line retailers list if it is P&S and or a widescreen release. Since you can get the title for $6 or less shipped, you aren't risking much no matter what.

Has anyone bought the one at Best Buy that says Full screen on the back?

If so, does it have widescreen on the flip side?

Saw a copy at the BB's $5.99 DVD dumpster. It's FS.
