Getting a Cheap DVD Recorder, New Question Add, help ?

I found a DVD Recorder at Sam's for only $199. Sadly I dont recall the name of it but I believe it was name brand.

I have about $250 to use for a recorder so I love this price. I am not looking to set it up to any hi-fi theather settings, or great speakers. All I want is to record shows from my TiVo on to a DVD disc and to record VHS videos to DVD.
I don't care for a harddrive, I mostly will use TiVo for that. I never fill it's 40 hours up.

So would a cheap DVD recorder be good for me? I dont want it if the picture is bad but if it looks, as it done as watch Live TV, I am fine with it.

It would be nice to make meun's and a chapter index like real DVD's but that is a plus not a must.

Please let me know.

The Liteon works great for me. In this case cheap does the job for what I want.

A few days ago, Gateway.com had one for $150 and there were coupons out there for free shipping and 10% off.

Here we go: http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=386801

and the Gateway link: http://accessories.gateway.com/Acces...ductid=2520516

It's still in stock. I'm not sure if the coupons in the thread link are still active though.

One more thing, I saw this today at Walmart
Its DVD recorder with VHS. This would make buring VHS to DVD a lot easyer for me.
Is this a good deal? Its about $280 in price

Yesterday I saw an iLo dvd recorder at WalMart for $149.00. Supposedly it is similar to the Liteon model.

I'm in a similar situation as yourself. I'm looking for a cheap one myself and was wondering if anyone ever heard of this modl...or this company.

From my experience over the last couple of months I don't think I'd get a recorder if it didn't have a hard drive.

And an FYI on the Liteons... they don't record off the air in stereo.
