I don't have the link to any article...but yes, he has passed away. Film maker Russ Meyer has died.

Holy crap, that's a shame.

FASTER PUSSYCAT, KILL KILL! is one of my favourite films. He was truly one of a kind.

Dang. I wish he had lived long enough to do commentaries for his movies, then again, I wish we HAD access to his movies on DVD.

Like him or loathe him, he was a pioneer of the T&A flick.

He did commentaries for some of his films on LD at least.
So, who owns the rights to his films now? If there is a silver lining in this, it may be that some nice remastered DVDs of his films might finally happen.

Russ Meyer's movies fall directly into my cultural blindspot, so I'm not terribly familiar with his work... I don't think I've ever seen a movie of his, just clips, so I'm only passingly familiar with him.

But wasn't he really weird about releasing his movies to home video? I seem to recall that he wouldn't allow anyone to release the movies he owned onto video, and then released them himself, and sold them directly at godawfully high prices.

I loved his films and have all of them on tape.

It will be interesting to see if his films get more reasonable in price. I don't know of any relatives so who knows where his money will go.

Somewhere in Silicone Valley I would guess.

Anyone read any interviews with the guy? He had a one-track mind! Two if you count the breasts as individual items.
