Star Wars trilogy - Good Blind Buy?

Believe it or not I have never seen them. Will I like them?

That is tough to say...have you seen the Phatom Menance or Attack of the Clones?

If the answer is no then id say your probably better off renting them first.

I haven't seen them either, but I figured I'd just go for the set, since I could get it for $33 at Coconuts.com.

it's a great blind buy, as long as you keep in mind that these films SET the standard for what sci-fi/fantasy films are now, so don't be suprised on a few old-school looking set designs or what not...

star wars and LOTR are my two most favorite trilogies ...you have to be from a different planet (IMO) to not like Empire Strikes back

Star Wars and Blind buy....i cant even fathom these two terms being spoken in the same sentence - even my child born well after the OT knows about SW and what it is to cinema.

keep in mind also that the SW was made in 1977 and rereleased in 1997 with ... "modifications" .... sets and people will appear of the era

Yeah, Star Wars as a blind buy? I can't phathom the thought.

This brings up a question, however...WHY haven't you seen them? Sci-fi not your thing? Never got around to it? Never had any interest?

There aren't many dvds that would be a better blind buy. You're in for a treat.

I ordered them as a blind buy, combination of all of the reasons above for why I haven't seen them. By the time I decided I wanted to see them, I'd been watching DVDs for too long to watch something on VHS, so I just decided to put them off until either the DVDs were announced, or I was so desperate that I would buy a LaserDisc player just to see them.

So what did you think? Good blind buy?

Strange as it may sound, I believe it. I saw Star Wars in 1977 and haven't seen it since. I saw The Empire Strikes Back at a drive-in when it was released, and haven't seen it since. I've never seen Return of the Jedi. I can't really think of a good reason to be totally honest.

I am looking forward to watching them this weekend however. I'm especially excited to see the reaction from my 7 year old boy.

I don't think i'd ever sat and watched them in their entirety, so i've been enjoying them very much on dvd Very refreshing to see the entire films beyond a few particular scenes that had stuck out in my mind.

They just never got my attention like they did for others I guess. I don't know why.

Do you mean rent TPM and AotC first or rent the Star Wars Trilogy first? I would very strongly recommend not watching the recent Star Wars movies until after the trilogy. I'm pretty sure you can get brain damage from seeing Jar Jar Binks too early.

Personally I would recommend not watching the recent Star Wars movies EVER. Star Wars will always be Darth Vader, Han, Luke and Leia. Those flicks with Padme, Dooku, and Jar Jar are just Star Wars in name only.
