I purchased a Lexmark printer as part of a package at Best Buy back in January. Since I didn't have any realy need for it, I waited until tonight to set up the printer, and it seems they sold me the wrong USB cable for the machine.

Could I get a swap with a receipt this late or am I out $70?

My guess is you're out. From what i hear, Best Buy is particularly strict on returns without a reciept.

Aside from that, i'm confused at how you managed to pay 70 bucks for a USB cable.

Did you not read my title? I said I STILL had the receipt!

You only have 30 days from the date on the receipt to make a return, or 14 for bigger items. Flip your receipt over it'll tell you :)

Or you could take it back without the receipt, as long as you have not taken back too much stuff without a receipt in the last 12 months. In that case, the time limit does not apply, as they don't know when you purchased it.

By the way, if you paid $70 for a USB cable, you got jacked...

Actually, it only cost about $23.00 (read the reciept more closely ;) ) , so I'm not out that much. I'm just confused as to how they could give me the wrong cable. Then again, I might be doing something wrong with attaching it. I have a Z700 Series Jetprinter and they gave me a USB 2.0 , A Male to A Female connector.

Maybe I'm just missing something.

Oops, mind must have slipped. Anyway, just try calling them and see if they'll let you exchange it... if they say yes, get the employee's name to make sure when you go in.

As for USB cables, i believe there are two kinds, one is a mini plug for devices like some digital cameras and videos, and a regular plug for printers, so they could have grabbed the wrong one.

A-Male to A-Female sounds an awful lot like a USB extension cable...they ship 30000 out to every store and nobody buys them.
