ive never been to a Frys before but i see theyre amazing deals in the paper every week. theyre about to open one like 10 minutes from my house so im thinking of trying to get a job there but ive also been trying to get a job at best buy. anyone know which place has a better employee discount and which place just seems like a better place to work at?

I hear both suck.
The few people who worked at them that I know did not seem to like either one. I would give a slight advantage to Best Buy.

Fry's is strict on their dress code--white shirt and tie for the guys. And no sitting down on the job--ever. I often ask the clerks who work there how they like their jobs--they don't seem too damn happy.
I've noticed that a lot of the clerks at my local Fry's speak more than one language, with English being their second language. I'd almost venture to say that some are on a Green Card program to work in this country. They seem happier than the American-born employees, but not that damn happy either. (Boy, they must be coming from countries with some really harsh work environments.)
Still, they have a lot of people working there. Don't know what the turn-over rate is. I've seen guys that are head of departments that have worked there for years and years. Maybe the employee discounts and benefits are good.
I have a nephew who worked at Best Buy. He didn't know the first thing about TVs and worked in the TV department for a year. (He still doesn't know much about TVs even after working there!) Still, he enjoyed his work and says he got away with lots of goofing around on the job.

Read this forum, man. Didn't you know? BEST BUY SUX!
I'd say to try out Fry's. Maybe less ignorant, impatient, whiney assholes shop there.

I heard Fry's has someone watch you pee for the drug test. I don't do drugs, but I wouldn't subject myself to that.

I would go with Best Buy, simply because I see a lot of screwing around (not necessarily in a bad way) at my own local Best Buy. But you would have to wear one of those damn blue shirts.

 What if you're "pee-shy"?
Seriously though, if that's true, thats screwed up. Stuff like that should be illegal. (here in Canada, drug tests themselves are illegal :) )
