thinking of buying this HDTV from Best Buy
I don't know much about HDTV's but my wife and I saw this one at Best Buy and we are thinking about buying it. I want to be able to hook up my xbox and gamecube(should I worry about screen burn) and my dvd player. What do you guys think?

You could take your chances but I wouldn't recommend that brand to my enemies. GE and RCA are one and the same and haven't made a reliable product in years IMO. Stick with The main players like Mits, Hitachi, Pioneer, Toshiba, Panasonic and if you need to Sony. As for burn in just keep the constrast set to a proper low setting and avoid prolong playing of games with static images and you'll be fine.

I would also recommend you stay away from GE,RCA , AKAI brand rptv.
Sears,Best Buy,Circuit City all have sales on rptv every few weeks
Closer to XMAS the bigger the sale.

Add me to the list of those who would avoid GE. I don't know anything about that particular TV, but I wouldn't spend a dime on a television from them, let alone a big ticket HDTV. Hell, I don't trust them to make a proper toaster.
I have recently been comparing HDTVs (in a slightly smaller scale: 42"-46") and found that the best ones I saw were either Mitsu or Toshiba models. I finally settled on the Toshiba 46H84. I can't wait until it finally arrives (it is taking FOREVER to ship).

Add me to the list of anti-GE/RCA. You'll feel much better in the long run dishing out another $500 or so and getting a quality brand.
I personally own a Mitsubishi (WS-55513), but I wouldn't say no to a Toshiba, Pioneer or Sony.

When I was researching my HDTV purchase, everybody said: Mitsubishi, Hitachi, Pioneer, Toshiba, or Panasonic.
I see that hasn't changed.
I'm a Toshiba 51H83 owner.

My ex-g/f came home one day with an RCA DVD player that she claimed she got with giftcards from Wal*Mart.
I've never had as many problems with an appliance than that POS. I've sworn off of anything RCA.
I begged her to take it back but she never did... which always made me dubious as to how she "acquired" it.
One of the biggest benefits of leaving her behind was leaving that player behind too

Proud owner of a Panasonic PT47X54 here. I also would avoid GE, RCA, Memorex, Akai, etc.
When purchasing such a large ticket item that you plan on using a lot and keeping a long time, it's wise to get something well-known and approved by DVD Talkers

Yes, you need to worry about screen burn in. All CRT RPTV will burn in. You can reduce the rate by being VERY carefull: always use stretch mode, never pause, be very careful of the time menus are on the screen, don't wacth and single channel too much (the bugs and scrolling news bars can cause burn in), and turn your brightness and contrast WAY down.
All of that seems silly to me; I'd like to think I'm the master of the Tv and it's not the master of me. If I were you I'd get an HDTV that can't burn in, like an LCD, LCD-RP or DLP-RP (or LCOS ir D-ILA.)
Those technologies can't burn in and the Tv will be smaller and lighter. They also cost a little more ,but not having to worry about burn in was worth it to me. (I bought a Panasonic LCD-RP, PT50LCXX)
