GTA:VC vs. GTA:3

A few of my friends like GTA:3 more which I can't understand.

Which one do you like better?

I voted for VC, but if GTA3 was released with the upgrades in VC, then I would like it better. I would have enjoyed the ability to fly(really fly...not attempting it).

GTA 3 was much bigger than VC was and I love the New York setting and mafia theme. But VC was a much better gaming experience. The moving map, for one, made things SO much easier. Motorcycles, boats, and helicopters are another reason I liked VC better. And while the original music used in VC was cute, it got old after a while. I liked having real music in VC and so much of it.

Vice City although this was a close call for me. Loved GTA III!!! I have a feeling San Andreas will surpass both of these beyond our expectations.

I like GTA3 more. The main reason is I like to just cause havoc and blow stuff up...In Vice City the cops come after you too much and it takes alot of the fun out of the game.

You mean to tell me that these are two different games? I thought it was the same game just with different color lights and different mindless missions to go through, my mistake, I guess I'm one of those losers that voted I didn't like GTA.

They're both so incredible but I think the sense of newness in 3 makes it my favorite. The additions in VC that were great (motorcycles, bigger area, main character speaks) were great but nothing can compare to playing 3 for the first time.

Also, add me to the short list of people who liked the radio in 3 better. Don't get me wrong, the music in VC is awesome but there was something just so right about the stuff you'd never heard before in 3. It also felt like it repeated less since it was all new to me (In VC it's like "Michael Jackson again?)

But they both kick ass. I can't wait for SA.

I selected GTA 3 better. That is the game that singlehandedly got me back into gaming and there is no looking back now. I bought a ps2 for that game only (well ffx also). I liked the dark setting much better than the neon lights of Vice City. I do love vice city though.

I am thinking optimistically that San Andreas will be better than BOTH games.

On a side note, does it seem to you guys that there is not even half the hype for SA as there was for Vice City.

...I've already dropped ALL of my plans for October, man. I'm packing up food like Y2K because once that baby's in my hands, I'm never leaving my PS2.

I probably got more enjoyment playing GTA:3, only because I had never played a game that blew me away like that before. I think Vice City is the better game, but it didnt have the same impact that GTA:3 had on me.

Because the way you stated your opinion implied that the rest of us can't tell the difference between the two games.

There are better ways to say you don't like the games.

It's a CLOSE call for me because each has features I like over the other:

GTA3
- Less specific car damage means you can get MUCH more mileage out of a police chase, damaged car, etc., resulting in more hilarious crashes/pileups/carnage
- Carry as many weapons as you want

VICE CITY
- Motorcycles and helicopters!
- Better graphics!
- Ability to shoot out the tires of your enemy
- Stuff to do with your money (i.e. buy property)

The soundtrack is great on both, but since I played on Xbox and can use custom soundtracks when I get sick of the built-in ones, that's moot.

In the end, Vice City is harder and slicker and may win by a nose, but GTA3 has more of a "fun" factor...

Funny, I could have sworn it implied that I couldn't tell the difference between the two games. That's ok cause according to the poll I'm just a "loser" who doesn't like either game.
