NHL 2005 PS2 Pre-order $19.99 at BB

Taken from VG Talk. This is probably a mistake since it lists for $49.99 and that's how much the Xbox version is going for. BB doesn't always honor price mistakes, but who knows, it might be a good deal for someone (personally I'm loving ESPN NHL 2K5, but that's just me).

Here's the link

How's the cross check on NHL 2K5? I've only played EA's NHL.

What do you mean by this? Are you asking if the refs call penalties on it? Are you asking whether you can nail people with it? Are you asking whether cross checks are animated well?

As a general matter, EA's hockey games put a lot more emphasis on hard hits than either NHL2K5 or real life does. Sega's NHL2K series is far more realistic (and better) than EA's NHL 2xxx series. That said, NHL2K5 is almost completely customizable; so if you want to turn up hitting power to an unrealistically high level, you can.

I recently read that they're both great games, but that the ESPN one was a little better as far as control and gameplay go.

I want to know how hard are the checks, and if there will be any pixy glass breaking... nm, you just answered my question in the 2nd paragraph. Sweet, looks like I can go full speed across the ice and smash the opponent so hard, he'll break the glass and fall into the stands.

I find ESPN NHL2K5 to be very flexible, I can turn the sliders to have a completely arcadey shootout experience (100+ shots on goals and bodies flying everywhere and fighting every 3 minutes) or a sim-like methodical hockey game with accurate stats... Great game.

The page is down now for EA NHL 2005, but it was up all day yesterday. Now BBY.com isn't even listing the game at any price. I got my order in. I guess we'll have to wait to see if they cancel them.
